Jdownloader of course..I couple it with a nice anti-capthas method and a working reconnection script to change IP when file hosts limits your downloads.
Never tried IDM though.

I have tried with different downloaders. Jdownloader is free but it crashes and so much update comes after every 5/6 days, its terrible. IDM is the best for downloading small and large files. It integrates so nice with Firefox and Chrome that downloading videos from any links becomes very easy. Rest downloaders are more or less crap.

I used to love orbit downloader, but since they started the whole "built in advertising and software update" crap i dont use it anymore. I've tried loads, but prefer internet download manager because it just works. I hate all the crap that comes with it, but meh, its the best of the bunch.
