Apart from that, being respected rank here doesn't make you reputable, you're still some random guy with some random server which you don't care for and stack full of clients and then sell
Companies like leaseweb, theplanet, those are ones you can trust (at least, in the way they won't go offline all of a sudden and leave you in the dark for weeks, then disappear)

I don't understand why do you guys always pull WJunction into everything, is it because you're unable or don't have the basic social skills of placing blame?
The solution here is very simple, file a dispute with PayPal, provide all the information you have, and the other party will also provide the information they have, whoever is right, will win.
No drama, no mindless anger, just straight results.
"He's a mod", is that why? does staff status mean a god like status? if the only reason you hosted with them was because one of the owners is a staff member here, or anywhere else, then my friend, you need to learn how to conduct business.
Stop blaming everything on ranks, it's sad and pathetic, and when you do that you disrespect people within the mentioned ranks who are not involved in any way, and are truly respected.

I'm lol'ing at all the people here who think they have an argument and who are actually stupid enough to argue these "valid" points. Now I'm lol'ing at the guy trying to make the rank system an issue.
Conducting business has a lot to do with the reputation of the "seller", especially when someone is new.
When a person here has a "Respected" rank with him, people assume that he is indeed respected by the community and will not scam because he has a reputation to take care of.
Although, after having people like Ultima, Ace, Dlow, Elio, I doubt people give a shit about ranks anymore.
Can't think of a real harm if the "Respected" rank is removed all together.
PS: I love Wjunction.

I fully agree, but reputation is not rank, just because someone is a staff member of an established website does not make them trustworthy. Many big forums out there are managed by phishers, carders and worse.
Any business decision should be based on research, not because a couple of guys said "he's cool" or because of a rank.

I totally agree El, I've been contacted by almost every host here and i simply decline to do business with them after i do a lil research. If you care about uptime an peace of mind, I would never spend less than $50/month on hosting!
I understand but wouldn't you want WJ to be run by trustworthy & honest members? Want kind example is being for the rest of the members if a mod of a quality site like this abuses his powers and gets away with it?
If a new member joining this site cannot trust the members in brown and blue jackets, who can they trust? Afterall, you have to trust somebody in order to do business or you could make WJ a no-business zone all together, that way nobody gets scammed, everyone's happy.
I must admit if I lost as much money as OP, I would be livid too. It's ridiculous that certain reputable members are taking in clients and then selling off the company leaving their clients at the mercy of the new owner. Believe it or not, the RDP I purchased on WJ, changed owner twice in just about 40 days time and now I don't even know who is the current owner and who to contact for support anymore. SyFlys is supposed to be the new owner but he keep denying.
This is why the original owner of a company should have some liability or else nobody takes the blame and everyone goes scottfree even though hundreds of users got scammed.
Thats bullshit, Im a Respected Member and I earned it,no one gave me anything. Ive been here since day 1, was a "Webmaster" ,"Mod", "Trusted Webmaster" and now a "Respected Webmaster",never scammed ANYONE, here or on net.Helped everyone I could, friends or not , so, dont include me in this bullshit .
Staff= A person of trust who can help them out when they need it. ( not a person who goes of and looses dbs of alot members and make up an bullshit story that the backup doesnt work( when he clearly never had a backup).
2nd thing: A staff should be trustable not make up bullshit stories and be honest.
and guys do what elj said and dispute the payment you made.

And this is not wjunctions fault its the fault of you guys trusting someone based on the rank. But i believe the administration is in the wrong for keeping an guy in that position who doesnt give 2 shits about his customers even when he owned crypticvps and has admited it a few times himself in sb.

Lokiloki I agree with you, you have earned the rank and it is a proof to others that it cannot be earned easily.
But the thing is we cannot trust people based on there ranks all the time.
As Elj said there are many big webmasters who are carders, phishers who have lots of capabilities, they can come here stay for a while gain some respect and at last scam.
Its quite natural I think, for that reason some trading means was created known as Escrow which most of the members don't practice using it.
People get scammed before doing a complete research on the particular person and just get carried away by others and then they mess up with things like these.
My fellow friends please be aware in future and kindly do a research on a particular seller/buyer before doing some kind of trade.
