hi there will this vps spec be ok for me

all i am using it for a is for an ftp server to share files with my family max users 3

will be doing some unraring downloading and a few torrents and thats it

Dedicated RAM: 1GB

plus on a 50mbit port speed what will be the max download speed i could reach

as for 50mbps you can expect download rate at 6200 KB/s

You don't need 1GB of RAM. 256MB is enough. (since RAM is the most expensive spec most of the time)

What is the virtualization platform ? eg : OpenVZ, XEN, KVM

Is your family all home? Is your internet fast? I don't see why you can't download files on one computer and setup sharing through the router.
It'd be the same thing, since you have to download from the VPs anyway.

The old fashion way would be, make your PC an ftp server..

my isp is not fast enough for a home ftp server max upload speed 83kb capped after 2 gig

It would definitely do the job, but as someone else has said - 1GB of RAM is a bit over the top for just an FTP server. You'd more than likely be able to make do with 128MB/256MB.

Make sure you get your VPS in a location with good peering / routing to your location so you can maximise your usage :-)
