I faced this three days ago, i had to pm three of them, they were active in CB but didn answered pm, i got a bit confused, i wrote in CB to reply but they didn, then i got mindy online n she solved me but meanwhile 2 hours were gone
But what was the issue? That's important. The point I'm making (admittedly on behalf of staff which I'm not) is that if they were online and considered your PM important they probably would have acted sooner as they are responsible enough to do so. Most PM's are unnecessary and therefore don't receive immediate attention.

It's not fair on the staff to imply they didn't act without letting people know what they didn't react too.
Point is when you accept the mod position you accept all the
questions, daily hassle, helping, enforcing rules ect...

You don't accept the position to appear offline all day long
I disagree. They are staff not baby sitters expected to hold the hands of kids and show them around while they answer every single question.

Really don't know why I'm defending the staff so much. Don't even get along with most of them.

Some day all members will b invisible, this is not helpful for community, if its about sharing and helping each other then all shud b online

I agree that they are not baby sitters,
but they take on a role of responsibility as a mod i would expect them to answer questions that a newb would have regarding the forum maybe a simple question that needs answering but mods are here to help the members not to hide out all day long, mods are here as a support to the forum, they are here to help the members, that's why they have been voted in to better the forum, first way of bettering the forum is helping the members of the forum.

I guess this is just how i see how mods are supposed to be.

Don't get me wrong some mods are helpful ect...
I'm not having a go at the mods,
I just thing they should use the invisible a lot less or possibly replace
it with a "off-duty" or a busy status instead.

Thank you! Someone that gets it and FYI @ everyone else i reply to 90% of PM's.

I havent read all the posts but wtf is this shit:|

There is no need for mods to be visible, if a member has a problem which needs solving all he needs to do is send a report and the mod will attend to him. Simples.

The invisible feature is handy to catch spammers, people using racist slurs etc. So personally i dont think it should be removed.

Members should know how to follow rules regardless of the online status of an mod. And like i said before a simple report would do the job and a mod will attend to it if a member needs help .

I've not used the invisible status ever since we were allowed to use it. Regarding the invisible option, we will use it as per our wish. Just because a member of staff maybe using the status does not necessarily mean we are on "breaks" or we are "ignoring" members. We are here to provide support and make WJunction a better place for everyone (including ourselves).

Simple as saying the alphabet;
Report a post if you see one breaking the rule.
PM a member of staff if it's urgent (PMs are not ignored if staff are invisible)
Any other questions - PM a member of staff.

I hope the other members of staff will still use the invisible status regardless of this thread.

I didn't set my status to invisible until about a week ago when I saw someone saying in the chatbox "Can't talk, a mod is online" so obviously they had something negative in mind or something that broke the rules. From then on I stay appearing offline.

Like it was mentioned, someone can use the report tool if they have any issues or PM a member of staff as most of us come to WJ daily.

I'm featured in demon's pic =D I'm famous =D (not to be confused with the member of staff they call "Phamous" as clearly you can see that the two words are spelt differently and if you mix them up, then clearly you are a retarded fuck).

:|

Regarding submitting a report wdemon himself said they are normally
answered within 12 hours to.

Regarding " Just because a Mod is appearing offline does not mean they
will not answer a PM" well how will a member know who to send the PM to?

So i guess by most of the staff responses they would rather hide all day waiting
for a rule breaker just so that they can ban them, maybe it would be a better idea
if you showed your presence to stop them committing the crime or it may just be
that fact that most of you feel as it is your aim to ban people instead of help people.
(Not directing this at anyone specific I'm saying this about the majority)

Don't take subliminal shots; if you have something to say, say it. If all we cared about was banning, we wouldn't have a dedicated forum for banned users to appeal their ban. Through that forum, we've unbanned tons of good perma banned members .=]

It's not a subliminal shot,
mods have said they go invisible to catch the bad guys.

But it would make more sense preventing the spam or w.e. in the first
place and by staying invisible members can't see who to contact if they
have a problem or a question to ask, nothing subliminal at all.

And before anyone says "use the report feature" it takes time to get
answered as moderators are not always actively browsing that forum.

How exactly are we to prevent spam? We delete it the moment we see it, it's not like we can set every reply/thread to be moderated.

And it is a subliminal shot, the only time we resort to forum banning someone is if the 'crime' is severe or if they're repeat offenders. Why would we be looking to get rid of members? lmao

For example:
Spamming in the ChatBox - a few day ban from CB
Speaking in a different language in the Chatbox - a few day ban from the CB
Doing currency exchange on the Chatbox - a few day ban from the CB

Both could be avoided if members saw that moderators are online,
it's better to prevent something than just wait for it to happen.

What i am trying to say in a subliminal way is "it would be better if all mods showed
when they are online" so that members could contact them if need be.
