Of course, I could never run something and fail down my customers. I didn't planned to start warez (linking) hosting tho, more like Legit "Onshore" Company with at least 1 decent dedicated to provide good shared hosting. Yet again, it's just discussion, not like I'm going to do it ;)

I would never, but really never think about starting a hosting company without having access to the DC. Real hosting provider NEEDS TO HAVE server technician.

I mean really, what if something went wrong with your server, and your hosting support where you have bought server isn't working on weekend.

You basically let down your customers. Hosting so called 'companies' aren't worth of shit if they only have 1 server, and if they rented it.

Those are the skiddie companies, which won't last more than a year.
 
Hey, I wouldn't use shitty/very cheap dedicated. I would use OVH server for example. I used them for a long time and almost no downtimes. And 1 server would be for start, later on I would invest more and more, income isn't important for me at start, it's best to build good reputation and provide quailty hosting than fill pocket and start to oversell.
 
Problem with OnShore hosting, unlike offshore/warez linking, is that you have a shitload of competition. You'll need to advertise a lot and/or at least set yourself apart from the rest. Why should a customer go with you if they can go with bigger names and more reputable providers?

And Jason, having access to DC is a plus. But getting a server from a DC that has techs 24/7 is a better plus. I, for example, rent one of my servers with GNAX/NetDepot. Their techs work 24/7. True 24/7. I scheduled a server takedown (to troubleshoot the IPMI card) on a Sunday, 5AM EST. And they did it.
 
If I had $500, i'd probably buy a decent script/addon which no-one else has on their forum. I'd spend up to $350 on that, then i'd spend $150 on a light unique theme along with a flashy front page for new visitors. Would make the forum much more unique than any other of the warez forums in the scene.
