I don't think it would work, styling changes so I doubt going from 2.x to 3.x the style would remain usable. For example, most 3.0.x skins won't work on 3.1.x properly

It will not work. The Skin XML might import but the images will not. and vice versa.

you need to update the skin get a coder to do it for you but the will charge
