Because they might not have a back up....

Just another bunch of retards trying to make a name for themselves, deserve to gtfo kthx

lol i doubt that they will be successful with milw0rm
I lol'd. Here's an example, you're playing an online rpg for the first time, you just got your level up to 4 and you go into an open channel, then a level 64 attacks you and you die.

In case you didn't understand that.
milw0rm - level 4
people involved in the anti-sec movement - level 64

I fucking worship the people involved with the movement and think it's about time somebody did something about all the script kiddies running around with malware.

To be honest, I hope they succeed with their movement, if their movement is exactly as they described, then (y), they have my support.

I just hope that no "innocent" viewers/users get harmed by it, skiddies, exploiters.. can all go to hell.

You have to admit, they made a nice entrance, displaying that image.. virtually everywhere, talk about becoming famous in 15 mins. :P

Agreed :P

careful kid. one of em has already posted on this thread ;)
:O really? who?... oh, and so?

As you can see, most are supporting them, but if they can't take criticism, then there shouldn't be any movement to begin with, granted that comment was way "off course", but still... no one should be careful, if that makes any sense.

el i donot represent them, neither am I on their group, but I do support their movement.

the comment wasn't anything serious. its just I was surprised to see one guy posting here... i will let him decide if he wanna reveal himself. :)

Oh, I support them too Crucify, check my first post in this thread, my only comment was with the "careful" part, people shouldn't be intemidated by a "righteous movement".. lol, gotta love that name.

oh come on elj, spill it already. We know you're part of the Ants-sec movement group!

I are? must be one of my other secret personalities then. :P

I sort of do and do not agree with this movement.

EXAMPLE!

Lets say for instance cPanel's latest version has a GIANT exploit in it. The server can be taken over and backdoored without the owner of the server even knowing it could happen. The person who discovered this exploit reports it to cPanel so they can take care of it and they simply don't fix it and just ignore it.

To speed up the process or provoke cPanel to actually fix this issue, they release it publicly. To prevent everyone from stop using their product, they would have no choice but to fix the exploit.

Also, if one of these sites finds an exploit or releases an exploit before a small private group of malicious "hackers", the exploit will more than likely be patched quickly with minor damage done in the process.

If the website did NOT find the exploit but instead a small private group of malicious "hackers" found it, they would NOT release it publicly and abuse it endlessly, probably resulting in a patch weeks or months down the road once the vendor of the product has received enough complaints with major damage done in the process.

I'll comment exactly on your example.

cPanel, it's a well known, respected control panel for servers that's being used by many web hosts over the years, their profit is their reputation, if they didn't fix it as fast as possible they wouldn't be in this place.

If someone finds an exploit, they should report it to the "script maker", why would a developer ignore an exploit report? specially one that built a name over the years.

I do agree with you in a way, but the movement's point is that no one should exploit an exploitable -page-, basically, as I understand, they want the whole "sky is blue, life is good, everyone helps" package, to get rid of the bad apples, which in theory, is very good but impossible to do.

As you can see, it's because of those people that release exploits publicly, a lot of websites are being hacked every single day by hackers that barely know the concept or the basic structure of developing, I'm sure if you search WJunction you'll find at least 4 "hacked" threads within the last month only.

Exploits should be reported to the developer, if the developer ignored for any reason, then report it to the people you know using that script so they can maybe create a patch.

Releasing a "patch for an exploit" is much better than a "here is how to exploit this", don't just mention the hole, mention how to fix it.

I really cant be bothered to read half the paragraphs in posts/images but let me get this right

These people are a bunch of 1337 hackers owning every site just so someone else cant before them?

Lol no, they're getting rid of script kiddies by taking down sites that release exploits publicly. So there would be a lot less idiots running around defacing random sites with an exploit thinking they are elite.

lol...milw0rm next?! So called "movements" don't attack someone like str0ke.

And once again so called "webmasters" amaze me with they stupidity...

They won't succeed no matter how many well known sites they deface there just a couple of little ants in a field full of dogs. How can they think there going to stop a multi million industry with hacking a few sites here and there. You get publicity for a month then your "movement" is simply forgotton unless you continue to hack well known sites which leads to getting caught and then sued by a major company. If any of you anti sec guys are reading this take my advice and quit while your ahead your walking a very dangerous path one that could mess up your life.

To be honest, the whole support thing is not for the "movement members", it's for the idea itself, as far as I know they didn't hack anything other than Imageshack's little adventure here.

The idea it self is, "look skiddies, y'all suck", people supported that, of course they won't succeed, as I said in my previous post, in theory it's a good idea but impossible to do, it just gave us all the best excuse to bash exploiters, script kiddies, wannabes and noobs.
