Wow that sucks. If they can't afford to offer you 6TB of space, then why does their page say they offer unlimited storage? What they did is definitely wrong, i think you should contact them and tell them to stop advertising unlimited space.

Yeah it sucks...

And in case anyone was wondering, they had a typo in that email . They downgraded me to free... null and voiding 3extra months of premium.

You just got scammed my friend. Well if there policy says unlimited storage then you can use as much space as you want if they don't have any fair policy rule.

Are you files legal? I guess there aren't right?

that's sucks, i was just about to buy their 1 month premium
they blatantly false advertised the service, but i guess 6TB of files is pretty crazy too...

Well none of my files were DMCAed... so I guess that means they were legal. They at least weren't any warez or pirated movies/series.

6tb is not much, about 1/5th of what has come through my site in last 3months (at time of posting).

I am glad if this post stopped someone getting ripped off like I was.

6TB is not much if you are selling accounts with the statement of "Unlimited Storage"

If the files are legal, you can file a case against them and take there site down with allegation money too (y)

Buddy you just got scammed, read my above reply if it complies with your files.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I am a poor bugger, and I can't waste money on lawsuits... Specially in the off chance I lose the case anyway.

6TB is definitely not that unreasonable.. I have over 10TB on rapidshare and bayfiles, haven't had any problems like that.

My view is that they should be honest.. If they can only afford 1TB or 2TB, they should advertise that, like plenty of other sites do (e.g. jumbofiles). Advertising unlimited and then backing out after 6TB is just lame.

every hosts has limits when someone store that too much, either they have policy or they remove files silently,
but ifile sucks here. stop using it

Now, tell me what you have actually stored in these 6Tb. Can't imagine they were your poems.

And because they were not DMCAed, that doesn't mean your files are legal if you don't own the copyright for them.

And they are quite reasonable by not deleting your files right away.

If I was running a filehost - I'd probably delete a lot of them and just send out DMCA notifications ^^

You realise that by sending a DMCA notice, you are certifying that you are the copyright owner, and that by giving out fraudulent DMCA notices you are committing a crime?

It sure sounded reasonable... except most of my files are now gone. It was another typo on their behalf. They immediately enforced their 10day inactivity policy (and as the majority of my files had no activity in last 10days, before the email was sent, they were immediately purged).

Kind of a dick move too, where they didn't refund my 3months of remaining premium. It just got wiped.

Well tbh, 6TB is alot of space.
All storage providers have some sort of fair use policy in place.
They may advertise unlimited storage space but it's economically unfeasible for them to really give out unlimited space for such a small fee. Other hosts would have downgraded you long before 6TB.

For example HostGator may advertise unlimited space with their shared hosting plans, and while there is no limit as to the amount of disk-space you can use, there is however a limit to the number of files you can host.

So best bet is if you're going to really use it for mass storage, contact the provider (filehost, webhost, cloud storage) beforehand and find out exactly what are the limits.

Not really necessary to sent out fake DMCA. You just delete them by referring to your TOS.

It's totally wrong to assume filehosts can't delete files without DMCA.

The one thing both of you are missing, is that these guys in particular offered unlimited storage! I did not make the policy for them... they did.

What were the files you stored?
That is completely irrelevant and beside the point. But if you insist, they were non-copyright works within the countries that had easy access to them. If anyone felt it breached their IP, they could file DMCAs which no one did. Let us not get into the whole copyright thing here, the issue is clearly ifile.it breaching the terms of their contract.

At this time how can anyone be so stupid they trust a filehost. They will all f**k you over in the end. It's business. If you're not making money for them they'll wipe you, if you're making money for them but they can make more money with you gone they'll wipe you.. violating TOS or not. We're all crooks don't expect them to be honorable.

Not all filehosts do that.

MegaUpload and FileServe allowed me storing more than yours.
I ever posted the screenshot in FileServe's official thread:
info.png

And RickyFS explicitly said they can afford it.
So I started using FileServe as my MegaUpload mirror site.
Although MegaUpload was raided and FileServe banned me after that event, it's still a truth that they didn't disallow this kind of usage.

Now I only recovered 10 TB of them on RapidShare.
I don't know whether RapidShare can afford it or not.
Let me wait some months and I will see.
