How much to charge for placing banners?

Hi

I would like to know how much do you rate someone to place banner in your site?

Like for example for 1k daily users how much in header, side or footer?

Give me some ideas how much must I charge for them. Thanks

Hi there! Please give a hint , you want to work directly with advertisers ? As it’s quite tough nowadays , direct work without any counterpart can take you to loss .

Give a hint on what is your niche and Geo , we may help you find best one.

If it's adult traffic, here are real numbers from when we priced ad buys last week (US, mobile). Auction banner CPMs on TrafficStars averaged about $0.05 and ExoClick's floor was $0.01. Fixed spots go higher: a 468x60 on Adult-FanFiction is $30 a month, and one JuicyAds direct-buy zone doing ~8 clicks a day was $70 a week.
At 1k daily users you're looking at roughly 30k visits a month, so auction pricing gives you a few dollars a month per slot. A fixed monthly price makes sense if your audience is niche enough that a buyer can't get the same clicks cheaper on a network. Header sells easiest, footer the hardest.

Yeah, those auction banner numbers track — at ~$0.01–$0.05 CPM and 1k daily users, a single banner slot really is only a few dollars a month. Fixed spots make sense when the niche is tight enough that networks can’t undercut you.

For the auction side of the same adult site, the usual leak is locking everything to one network (Exo / TrafficStars / etc.) while another partner would pay more on a given GEO/OS. That’s where Kadam Smart Mediation helps:

- keep one banner / pop / push slot (no stacking that kills bounce)
- plug in Exo, TrafficStars, Juicy, Kadam demand, whatever you already use
- 0% fee — networks still pay you directly
- traffic goes by real revenue (rate × accepted traffic / discrepancy), not the CPM on the dashboard

So you don’t have to guess which tag “owns” US mobile this week — the better payer takes the impression. Fixed header deals can stay as they are; mediation is for the leftover auction inventory so those cents don’t sit on the weakest floor.

Happy to help set a small test next to what you run - DM works if useful.

Building on erolove's numbers, the simplest way to set a price is to let the market tell you first. Put an ad network in that exact slot for two weeks and note the impressions and the eCPM it actually earns. That's your floor.
Then quote direct buyers a flat monthly price above that, since they get a fixed placement and you both skip the network's cut. I'd start around 1.5 to 2 times what the network paid and adjust once you see who bites.
At 1k daily users a header slot is roughly 30k impressions a month if each visitor sees it once, so network CPMs at that size don't add up to much. A couple of direct deals with advertisers who fit your niche usually beat the auction by a wide margin.

Hi there aiangels! Quite well done response . Do you operate this information upon your experience? So are you now reaching buyers directly or use network to monetize your website traffic

Mostly from the advertiser side, to be honest. We run a subscription product rather than a content site, so we don't sell ad inventory ourselves. The framework above is how I'd judge a placement if I were the one buying it, plus what publishers in threads like this one share about their own numbers.

From that side, what makes a direct deal easy to say yes to is a site that can show its real traffic split by GEO and device, and is open to a short paid trial before a monthly commitment. That trial is usually what decides whether the flat price holds up.

for small direct buyers id price it flat per week/month instead of CPM, they find it easier to say yes to. and always take payment upfront, chasing advertisers after the week is over is a pain

You are right flat can make sense , when you don’t encounter to advertisers by yourself , but networks help you to make such deal besides your current revenue gained by CPM . Btw it always depends on your visitors base, geo and how is your traffic valuable to certain advertisers
