actually i am into downloading and uploading business.
for that first i thought of buying a vps but then i opted for dedicated servers.
so my choice is 100tb[.]com.But now there is a problem when i fill the form at 100tb's website they ask me to provide a Hostname.
Some Questions & Answers.Let me know if i am wrong somewhere.
Q1 - what is a hostname??
A1 - I think the name of the website.for example wjunction.com.

Q2 - Do we need to buy hostnames??
A2 - i think yes.

Q3 - Since i am not going to host any websites then do i need to buy a hostname??
A3 - i really dont know about this.

Q4 - If the answer to Q3 is no then what should i be writing there at 100tb's application form?
A4 - can i write anything like vortex23[.]com

please help me
thanks in advance

cheers

@Dl4uall
so its final that we need to buy hostnames before buying a dedicated server.

so all those who are using dedicated servers buy hostnames first??

also where can i get cheap domain names.i googled and found companies selling domain names for minimum $10/year.damn.

No, you do not need to buy a domain name as a host name - all my servers run of local hostnames so A) it's free and B) not everybody can get to them directly as I run RDP.

In the hostname box, just but something like yourservername.local

that will do the trick if you are installing windows - if you are installing linux you can do the same.
