Help/Ideas For Social Site

Im trying to start a social-type website for local artists in an area, I was thinking of using wordpress but i dont think that will work. I looked at Dolphin and PhP fox, and am still not sure what to pick. I want the website to allow users who sign up to have a custom url ushc as Sitename.com/Username.. anyone know how i could get this done?

I would suggest you to use PHP.
PHP is much flexible with what you require.
