Guest Section or No?

I just wanted to ask a question,

do you think it's better to have a guest section for just guests or allow non registered members to view the whole board?

I personally think that it would be better if they could see the whole board because i think it looks better and easier.

whats your thoughts?

I would limit some sections, so that they have to register to view some threads. A guest section would be good, like schlupi said limit some sections and don't limit some sections. (y)

Guest Downloads was established so you can submit your OWN uploads. If you do not submit your OWN uploads, then there is no reason for you to have a Guest Downloads seciton.

Well global what I was planning on doing is just opening the board up to everyone maybe not some sections but all the warez sections and post my uploads there and then submit to ddl's.

But the thing I find with guest sections is that when we post our own uploads there not many members know of them and can leave with them some bad uploads.

Open forum is the way to go, if a guest wants to register, he'll register, with an open forum search engines will love you and index more pages from your forum, and that means more traffic for you.

You must love Google for it to love you back.

When you force registration on some of your sections, you'll get a lot of leechers, and you don't need those, in my opinion, the day you decide to make your sections only for members, is when your forum reaches the goal you aimed for, for example Warez-BB.

You can add a section for only members.
Members can then decide if the want to place there links there
And not get submitted.

Or in the guest section thats open for all guest.
I think your members have more freedom in their movement on a site.

Not members have also a choice to register,
or use the guest section.
If the realy love the site, dont worry they will register.

Fully open is the way to go.
I have mine fully open and I prefer it that way, nothing forced.

ull only get registered leechers with 0 post count and it will stay that way, open forum is the best option for a successful warez site.

Open forum's the way to go, that's the strategy I've got on my site. However, be prepared to see lower than normal registration rates, unless your forum really IS different from all those out there and appeals big time to the first time visitors

Recently opened up all warez to guests,no need to keep it hidden. Registration is down, but who cares. look at my stats
WareztheGFX has 35,246 posts in 32,843 threads in total from 1,445 Members

for 1.5k members, i would prefer to keep it that way then to have 10k threads 50k members with no posts..

Anyways, google seems like to my site some more too :D
