Hi , I want to ask , all of you guys as i am having a project (not school project) , project on some deals and i have to prepare documentation in more than 17 Languages which includes (English , Chinese , Hindi , Bengali , French , Japanese , German , Thai , Malayanam , Telegu , Irish , Dutch , Spanish , Swedish , Italian , Russian , Portuguese)

I want to know is using http://translate.google.com/ or Yahoo http://babelfish.yahoo.com/

Does it Really Change to a proper sentence , as even if there is a single mistake , it will cost me my job really and i will be in big problem

SO please which one is better , and does they really translate or just gets a fake stuff

Judging by some of the replies and comments around this site their really poor.

The worlds biggest undertaking in translation was by Facebook. It got it's members and users to translate content not a script. In my opinion you'll never get as good a result from a script (even Google) as you will from a fluent speaker.

How much do you need translated. If it's only a page in each language you could probably find people to do it for you easily enough for free. People mightn't mind re-writing a page for you. If it's a lot of content they won't be interested unless their's money involved.

In my opinion both fail.

About google translate I've seem serious errors in translations from english to portuguese and also there are some funny results from spanish to portuguese.

Human translation is better.

If your job is at stake I would recommend you to stay away from automatic translators. Better go for human translation. The text translated by google and yahoo is funny most of the times (not a good reason to lose your job). :|

If you dont know the language you are going to translate to then dont use them. They can make mustakes, yes they can help you with translation but you need to fix/corect the text after them. They are not perfect :)
