Google is trying to buy rival Yahoo and has talked to at least two private equity firms about financing the deal, reports the Wall Street Journal. Despite Internet ad revenues soaring around 20% a year, Yahoo revenue has foundered for several years, spurring talk the Internet giant could go private to regroup away from the pressures of the stock market. Google is apparently interested in finding a new outlet for its omnipresent ads, Yahoo's exclusive publishing relationships, and the boost that Yahoo's 700 million unique monthly users could give Google+.

Despite earning $2 billion a year from its display ads, experts say Yahoo's ad business is "undermonetized" because most of those ads are on less valuable online real estate—the bigger money is in social networking, where Facebook dominates, so Google+ could be just what both companies need. On the other hand, some think Google might just be expressing interest to drive up the sale price for Microsoft, which already has a relationship with Yahoo and has long been rumored to be interested in buying the company.

This is gonna be really cool. Google buying Yahoo will be far better than Microsoft doing so.
I guess Yahoo Search will return Google Search results if that happens. That would better for webmasters too.

no yaar ! i like yahoo too :)
Big G ll be the complete Giant in search engine then,
Baidu yandex search ask etc ll join it soon :P

I doubt google's social network(G+) will succeed for a while.. G+ is more like a webmasters hangout as of now. Things can change in the future but as of now I dont see it happening.

Facebook claims 800 million active users.
How about the 40 million figure that Google released today. Those are simply the number of people who have signed up for Google Plus, the company tells me. It’s not an active user figure.
Google recently announced 40 million Google+ users. But it’s not clear how many of those are regular, active users. There are some indications that growth at Google+ has cooled a bit.

We have to admit Facebook is taking over the Social Network. Google+ stands no chance. Anyway, back to Google buying yahoo, they are going to rule the world in some point.

Nah, WJunction is nothing (no offense, I like it). I have forums running 3-4 times the size of WebHostingTalk, let alone WJunction, and Google would never look for 0.001 sec at them to buy ;)
