Hi Filesonic,

Are you sure your counting of downloads is live and real-time? Today I uploads 10 files and I know all these 10 files were downloaded by somebody. But the counts of downloads for these 10 files keep showing 0 downloads for about 6 hours.

I suspect either your counting display on your website is not live and delayed or your system missed some downloads for my uploaded files. But I don't know which is the case.

Can you please explain this to me? Thanks.

Hi,

there is nothing wrong with the stats today.. How do you know that they were downloaded? Can you give me the user ID of the person that downloaded?

ANyway, our head of IT has given a possible explaination on another forum:

"There is one possible explanation: If you post on forums where most users use anti-captcha download manager modules, it could explain it. Google recently updated re-captcha to make it much more secure. In the past, we found people queuing dozens of downloads as free users on their download managers without having to enter captcha, thus inflating download counts. With the new update Google did, this is not possible. I guess some users will have download through legitimate methods now :)"

Download Error: Remote server responds with error code 500 - internal server error...

What means this ? - Getting it now several times... - Alway's did it work...

Hi Hish,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I cannot provide you with the user IDs of the persons who downloaded the files because I think most of them are unregistered users.

I posted the links to my files to a web sites and let people download my files. That website indicates you that whether your files are downloaded by somebody or not. That's why I know my files were really downloaded by somebody.

I also use other methods to verify that. I called my brother who lives in other country and asked him to download my file. After he told me that he successfully finished the downloading I went to my account to check and found that the downloading counts is still 0. I can assure you that my brother didn't use any tools other than web browser to download the file.

I also asked my cousin who lives next to my room and uses different IP address from mine to download the same file. I went into his room to see he did that successfully using firefox web browser. And as you can guess, the counts of downloading of that file are still 0.

My brother and my cousin are both unregistered users and don't have filesonic accounts. Don't you want to tell me that you don't count the downloads from anonymous users?:(

are you sure they signed up from you referral link? Or they signed up from a link of a file of yours?

We do count downloads from anonymous users for sure! What is your user ID?

DId they complete the download when they did it?

In which countries are they located?
