I must say that API, would be really helpful. More than fixed counter, or anything that you can imagine. This is the main reason why:
Lots of people are using z-o-o-m application for uploading.
Whenever that app can't get download link at the end of uploading, it restarts uploading, and what happens is duplicate files, lots of files that never gets deleted, and just takes place. I am sure that I have at least 1TB of files that just sits on the servers.
Now, relying on website, will it respond or not after link was uploaded, and idea how z-o-o-m is made, is bad.
Rapidshare have API, hotfile too. Why not Fileserve, is out of my knowledge.
API is a MUST, it will relieve stress on servers, since, to get download link back, server needs to transfer 1kb of data, and not the whole website page, which is 100s of kb.
I screamed few months back for API, and I will scream as long as I don't see it.
I can't complain on ANYTHING else, since I experience 0 problems with anything else.
Thank you RickyFS for 1.5K of pages of answers and patience.
