just few minutes down because of a small attack. it seems like the last news about the evolution of filemates weren't a pleasure for some "friends" ;)

Not an attack at all. Please read the manual of Cloudflare before referring to them. Site was just down for whatever reason. No problem, but stop blaming other people for your hardware problems. Server problems unlikely mean attacks, however it is a nice excuse of course to hide technical problems.

Your download servers are always down and I doubt it has something to do with the 100.000 happy people uploading at the same time, and b.t.w. you forgot to put them on Cloudfare, so your main server is still a bit protected by Cloudflare (as you you know every idiot can still see your real IP 178.33.122.17 - told you months ago how to deal with it), but what really matters, the servers with our files are still open for everyone. If there is really a hacker, it is just a question of days before he finds out and your sexy Dutch servers are gone in cyberspace ;-)

PS : someone knows a better filehost ? I really had it with this guy... His last trick to forbid 'direct downloads' is really unacceptable for me... Not only for my customers who can not longer use download managers, but especially for me as it not longer allows me to transfer files with 'remote upload' (my files one FM are just a backup - I'm not that stupid to host my files on one filehost, I learned from the past that these people are completely unreliable ) I have my data somewhere else, but I should be able to transfer them in both directions, and thanks to greedy FM with an obsession to 'leechers' it is not longer possible :wave:

A couple of points:

1. I find it very difficult to believe the fact that I've only had 2 sales this week. The "week" being this past Monday thru til now. Only 2 sales - that's impossible!

Given that Mates' "obsession to leechers" has caused him to forbid "direct downloads". Is that one of the reasons why sales - and not just mine - are down?

2. Papa Mates, I understand your excitement about the "evolution" of this - one of your many ventures - but you might want to reconsider all the braggadocio.

I hope you find what you like to a new one ;) Sorry for not being able to help you with the favor you asked me 1 month ago about your alertpay funds... I hope this is not the reason you are that agressive since then. Any way, the point is not that. I do not care what you want or think anymore.

I will not post the stats of cloudflare to show you the increment of threats at that time the server was down... about 20-30 minutes... when i changed it to "I am under attack" mode you saw the server back again... I hope this helps you understand there were some malicious intruders and did what they did... of course they did not enter to the server. access to the server is quite impossible through any port.

In any case i will not give you explanations any more. That's enough. Have a good future with your new file mate ;)

About the IP: NO comment. I will not give you any information on what I do.

There are things that i do for specific purpose and that's why FileMates survived my friend.
Do you remember the payment method PAYMOTU??? It was me behind it. With special tools i kept it for long time running and giving earnings WITH PAYPAL ;) The tools protected me from enemies eyes ;) Everyone sees what I WANT TO DISPLAY!!!

Ansley: I will get your thoughts under consideration. You know i did it many times and i fully respect you. believe me my friend i am not arrogant. I just see an arrogant behaviour from many members. "Do it or i leave". "Do it because we know better". The game is not played that way, though. The first rule is respect. I see stats, I hear opinions and i decide. It is not only your opinions or mine. I told many times. It is a community driven platform. This means, everybody participates to develop it. So, i hear you, but i hear others too. And many asked me to turn it off. I want to clean the platform. If leechers can not download any more with direct downloads, then they do not buy. I do not want them as buyers though. I want you to create real clients. People who are really interested in your files and not in earning from your files redistributing them.

And when did this ban on Direct Downloads go into effect?

Direct downloads mean the downloader clicks on a filemates link and gets the file directly without clicking the button click here to download... You just put the address of the file in the address bar and you instantly get the file without the download page to open first.

You could remote them to another host, useful if you need a backup, essential if you feel you are not longer welcome here and you need to tranfer your files:-=

Now FM suddenly became the one and only filehost I know who not longer allows it.

Users have to click and wait on every single link to manually generate a download link like :

This download link will work for only 24 hours for the same IP adress as the computer which generated it. So downloadmanagers become quite useless, an uploader can not longer move his files, and a downloader with a dynamic ip adress will not be able to download at all if he has the bad luck his adress changes in the 24 hour interval. But yes, the target is reached, it will be impossible for leechers to use FM, but at what a prize !

My point is that these things will kill a filehost I used to like. Too bad, but of course it's the owner his right to do with his company what he wants.

@ FM : no intention to be aggressive, and the payza thing has absolutely nothing to do with it. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression

The only thing I want to do is to express my concerns that you exaggerate a bit in your attempt to sell more premiums. Last week we suddenly saw that 5 daily download limit for free users (is it still there ?), now without warning this... It is very hard to keep explaining what is going on to the users... And nice for you that sales are booming, but I - and several others - see something different, but I suppose that will be our fault again ?

Anyway, it will take a while to get rid of me ;-) Now that it is not longer possible to move files with a 'copy/paste' it will take a bit longer. And to make it worse, I will leave for a holiday in 3 days :dan:

It seems to me that the only way a downloader would be able to do what you've described (put the address of the file in the address bar and instantly get the file/or use a download manager) requires said downloader to have a Premium account.

Is that not the case? A downloader to have the access you've mentioned requires a Premium account. Yes.

This question is not solely for Papa Mates. Anyone else who reads this - and can give a reasoned responce - is welcome to do so.
 
I am affraid Mate will not listen as usual.

Maybe a mod can disable the reply function in this thread that we no longer even try to waste our time with answering here!

Direct download and support of common download managers is an important premium feature imho, every uploader can protect his content himself against being leeched with using passords in rar files etc. Its not up to you to decide how we have to handle our legal content!!!

My premium ends in a few weeks and I am in progress to move to another host, and Mate you can believe me that at least 80% of my referrals will go with me and u will not get even a penny any longer from them! I do not care about the other 20% free users who will never pay for premium.
