Why there's no longer direct download for premium users?
After some complaints i got on my site I tried to load some of my files and the link does not generate.
They paid for it so they should get it as convenient as possible!
Firefox is asking after a while for reload and then site appears offline!
Please switch back or I honestly need to move :p
And I am also not happy with the "contact uploader" feature
I cannot answer to issues where i am not responsible for!
If there's is really a need for it then u should at least give the uploader an option to enable or disable this feature, maybe same way how you can checkmark to make a file premium only or public!

Same thing here, it seems that even the uploader's function to allow direct downloads is gone ;-( Really not good ....

For people like me it is useless as my users can already contact me through my blog.
But the way this form is implemented, it can cause problems for the uploaders who wish to use it :
- we don't see the downloadlink which causes problems, so very hard to answer any question
- we have absolutely no idea who is asking the question, no username, no ip, nothing....
- and indeed, if there is a problem with a file, it is most likely a problem with FM, not much we can do about it

Let's put things in one order:
Messages: The client can contact you. IF YOU WANT you respond. If you feel he doesn't provide you information about what he wants just pass to the next question.. IF YOU do not wan to ansewr anything just do not enter in the messaging section.
No IP, username or any other information is displayed for security reasons.
Many clients are sattisfied with that option and the sales seem to be better after the implementation. The user feels secure.
Also if he meets a problem he usually asks for damaged files, password of rars and so on... So, if he asks you about filemate's problem do not respond. He will contact the admin... If it is your file's problem then you should help.
If i see you sell accounts with fake files without password you will be banned. It is a common tactic of frauds. I want a CLEAN and FAIR FileMates...
So messaging center will stay there as there is a very high use.

Leechers usually need the direct download option to get the files after request and script they create to automatically authenticate and get the file.
So, filemates is not for leechers. FileMates is for those who do PERSONAL USE and for PROs that want to share their files.

Filemates is not for leechers ? What is a leecher ? Uploaders - who pay you to use you to upload their files, have the right to upload anything they want. It can be their family pics, a backup of important files they don't which to share, their own artistic works, but not someone else work. Whatever they upload, it is not your business. They pay you, and you host it. Point. Filehosts talk all the time that they are not responsible for what the users upload, and that it is not their fault users occasionally upload copy righted material. Filehosts like you also claim that there is something like DMCA and if they follow their rules, they are safe (strange enough an American law which has nothing to do with you, wonder what will happen if ever an European host will go to court with this excuse...)
So you have nothing to do with illegal things as you told many times to Robert. But in the case of they guy who complained here a couple of weeks ago about the 'fake files', I went to that site and it was all copyrighted Japanese porn - at least that was the first impression - all his files were fake. But you terminated that guy his account because his files were not illegal at all, they just pissed off a porn lover who found out that his illegal files were all fake.... OK, these fake files are not good for your business I suppose, but legally nothing wrong with it. And what hey uploads is not your business at all. Maybe we should encrypt our files at the end because our privacy is not really guaranteed over here :cursing:
What do you really want ? They way it is now, my users can not really use your service. Do you really want to kill a nice business because of fear for a couple of bad boys who "leech" ? There is already a 40Gb limit a day... why to punish the good guys to catch just a handful of bad ones... Will not work. I guarantee.
About the 'contact form' : it was just a suggestion. I will not use it because I already have a similar, but better and especially safer one so if I could simply turn it off, it should be nice. Not replying is a possibility, but shows a lack of respect to our users - if they ask a question they should receive a reply - not as info@filemates.com which never replies.
