while RapidShare, Netload and Filefactory and in Europe. The specific locations are mentioned above.

Most of them are located in the US.

Hotfile.com is in Florida, USA (Lemuriaco Communications) = their own name - they rent space in an unknown DC Lemuriaco doesnt exist... they must own this
FileServe.com is in New Jersey, USA (Choopa, LLC) = true
FileSonic.com is in Kwun Tong, Hong Kong, (WebAZilla B.V.) = wrong. They host the site in .nl (http://webazilla.com) with .hk IP. Files hosted in .us *
MegaUpload.com is in Virginia, USA (Carpathia Hosting) - Files hosted there & .nl (LSWB)
BitShare.com is in Wisconsin, USA (WZ Communications) *

* WZ Communications is the name Webazilla use in the US for their company there.
Same people own it - their DCs are peered and you order through same site webazilla.com

Enjoy my corrections

Filesonic do not have servers in .hk just the IP flag is .hk - the site is located in .nl
MU & FSO are both registered in .hk although the owners could be anywhere in the world.

.hk has no agreements with .us with copyright - so safe, cheaper tax and owners may be from there

Actually, on the contrary, US has strong copyright influence over HK and HK likes to think of themselves as responsible government/city that abides to International copyright laws. However, this law cannot conflict with human rights issues. If there are some gray areas, human rights always take precedence. That's one of the reason why it's legal to download copyright materials for personal use but not alright for distribution (upload or sale). But the definition of "copyright" is pretty vague too. Any material that doesn't have an HK registered owner is not copyrighted. :)

Btw, as a resident of HK, this is what I perceive; it may not be 100% correct.
