Editing IPB

Hiya everyone!

Im very VERY new to IPB 3.1.4 - and ive just installed it on my private server. Im hoping to work out the kinks and get it looking just the way i want it before i go live. My problem is...

I want to add a pic gallery to the index page. What it will do is select random images from member posts and put them there (only 6). Ive have already written the script but i can not figure out how to get my script onto the board. Ive been at it for the last 6 hrs! My IQ is dropping and my hair is falling out.

Can you guys please help me??

Make a hook, import said hook, configure settings if necessary.
