Was the speed 8.6MB/s for the whole time ? I doubt it !!

Must be just for the initial 1-2 secs which cannot be considered ;)

Edit : Sorry, after reading CripperZ topic, I am confused :|

Sorry for my bad English.

The PC where I did the test a connection that goes up to 450 KB/S.

This is seen with the file 100.meg.zip on the image.

When I download the file 100MB.bin at http://cripperz.us/speedtest/100mb.bin.

The file is downloaded in less than 10 seconds with a speed of 8.5 Mb/S and 9.2 MB/S.

How is this possible?

How I can download faster than my connection?

Take the test, download the file:
http://cripperz.us/speedtest/100mb.bin

Thank you for your help.

Stéphane

this is only possible when your isp want you to download a particular file at fast speed .. i am on a 1mb/s bsnl connection but when i want to download something from bsnl official site like settings etc they put me on 5 mb/s connection but i still wonder how you downloaded a file above the normal speed from cripperz.us

so if i'm not wrong you are asking why when you download the file called 100mb.bin from cripperz is faster than your usual connection speed..

some site uses akamai thus you get local speed higher, ask your isp whats your local speed download what i mean is what speed you get downloading from sites in your country :)

Hello,

The server is in Singapore.

I live in Switzerland.

I tried from Switzerland and France.

It's the same thing, I download faster than the connection of my provider.

Did you try the file you download?

http://cripperz.us/speedtest/100mb.bin

How fast are you?

thank you
this might be weird but what he says is true ..

i downloaded the file via firefox and it was so fast that i wasn't able to take a screenshot .. but when i added the file to idm i got my real download speed ..

The file seems to be weird

I believe server sends a gziped version of the file, browser downloads the gzip'ed version and unpacks it.

I can assume that 100mb.bin file gziped is less than 100kb size hence why you get that download speed. 100kb downloads in less of a second, but since the calculations are done considering 100mb size it calculates a much higher download speed.

This does not happen with Internet Download Manager as it requests the file several times and with no encoding in place.

Hi Guys,

just a note for those using IDM. There will be delay in the response from the server as the server is installed with CSF and multiple connection per IP is monitored or delayed by few seconds to minutes before it is allowed to download the parsed content. That is what IDM is doing to the file and thus that is what you are seeing on your IDMs and not firefox.

Try using IE or Google Chrome. I am keen to see more feedbacks on this.
