I've no problem with the suggestion but does anyone see the irony in having a webmaster forum with an area to discuss the benefits and importance of mobile and it's implementation when the site itself doesn't practice what it preaches?

Mobile and tablets are the furture for consumers, a mobile section should have been implemented a while ago IMO.

Good suggestion.

I think there is no point of adding a mobile section as I was reading the feedback area were users had requested it already about several years ago. Including requesting wjunction to have a mobile version of there forums.

Agreed this site is very far behind what the modern web is today and its still blowing up will continue to.
Mobile is a big part of the internet and everyone should implement mobile versions of their site.

But i also agree with happy, However every time i say it i'm ignored or its a no :|

I think you are confusing mobile theme for mobile devices, and the actual question, mobile section

Yes but i was mainly agreeing with happy, A mobile section would be great but adding a mobile section with everyone saying you should be using mobile versions for your site then this site not going by that general rule of the web these days... Seems slightly hypocritical to me.

Why would it be hypocritical? Maybe someone doesn't have enough time, and have real life things to deal with? Just maybe... Unfortunatelly, we can't do much when that's a case.

Does WJ have any plan to add a mobile theme before 2018 as that will be the 10 year anniversary of the first time an admin said it would be added? We’re already half way and it doesn’t seem any closer. Every new owner since 2008 said it would be added. eLight (January 2011), Capone (February 2012) and Hawk (January 2013) have all said as owners that it would be added.

Not worried about a mobile section as any idiot can add that in two minutes.

Whilst that's understandable i don't feel that's the real reason why ?
If you look back at the thread about this custom skin last year and search for the keyword mobile you will see what i mean.
Code:
http://www.wjunction.com/6-feedback-suggestions/144591-new-skin-suggestions.html

If we introduce a new skin then there will be a mobile theme introduced a long side with it.
^Quote from Hawk

If what you are saying is true and if admins are too busy to add things in the space of nearly a year then they should probably not be admins of a site.
Notice the word admins here not just hawk is an admin.

Although I agree with you on mobile theme, that it should be made and introduced with new skin, together with some other changes, there's only one owner, and one root admin. Which is same person.

I think that's the reason for a general discussion forum, to be honest.. anything non-webmaster related should go there. Creating too many categories just scatters posts and makes the forums seem less active.

I vote no.

I agree with Exel a specific "Mobile" forum isn't necessary for a "Webmasters Junction". Mobile talk can still be fit into other categories. The forum should be condensed down more than what it is currently even.
