Content is the most important thing. In my opinion if your forum have good post then people definitely visit for sure.
 
To determine whether or not a page is do-follow or not, then you just simple ‘view page source’ while on the page you’re analyzing.
Many forums are no-follow, but that doesn’t prevent you from obtaining the other benefits of forum postings; JV partners & driving traffic.

Forum posting surely helps to generate traffic but only post on relevant forum & be active on that forum. There are so many techniques other then this to increase the traffic like you can post contents also, use social media.
 
Forum posting definitely helps too much , if done in correct way and at correct forum with targeted audience. You can use some tools to look for forums related to your subject. Forum posting requires patience and hard work, but the results are great too!
 
It(Forum posting) certainly does help in generating more traffic.But you need to post in renowned forums.

To a simple one word answer. I would say a big "YES". Forums are great platforms to get referral traffics. Also these channels can work as resources for your hub. Suppose you publish a content on your blog (that's your hub) and then you share that blog link in several forums (now this will work as resources) which can not only bring huge amount of traffic but also you might get sales/leads! Nevertheless, you will get dofollow back links as well.

Posting on Forum helps in seo and as well as getting quality and interested users to your site without spending money. All you need to do is to participate in forum with quality posts.
 
Yes forum posting supports ranking of a site in searches provided the site whose back links are created is live and contains good content. Forums provide good back links and the links are durable also. Good ranked forums are always useful for the purpose.
 
Yes forum posting will help you out a lot as it will bring in very targeted traffic. It does require a lot of time, but you can outsource it if you have a lit bit of money to spare and want to spend time on bigger and better things. I would suggest that you do it yourself manually because you can than be in more control of what is posted and not just having someone posting lower quality posts for you. Plus when you do it yourself you can build up trust in the forum which will lead to more people wanting to visit your site cause you know what your talking about and not just spamming to get links/or traffic back to your site.
