Whats your take on deleting members with 0 posts? Do u just mass prune them all or give them a chance to start posting or whatever...

I just decided to mass prune all users with 0 posts and u may think its stupid, but if they really wanted to be apart of the forum they would make a post or 2.

If your database has like (estimate) 1-7k members and you have lots of members with 0 posts, its prolly a good idea to prune all with 0 posts and keep going from there. Like i said, if they really wanna be there they will reregister... no point in having members with 0 posts and they never come back.

I agree but diasgree,

if your forum (download sections) are open to all including guests then yeah why not prune members with 0 posts but if its not they obviously joined to see content so I don't see why you should prune them as without those leechers there would be not much point in a forum? yes there are some members who download and upload but a lot of them just upload for cash, rs points, ect so to me it would deepened on if your forum is accessible all areas by guests

well my forum isn't accessible to guests, but still i stand behind that if they wanna come back they will.. then you will know who your members are and who isnt/wasnt.

I never likes pruning. But once i hit 5000 members i sent out an email 2 weeks early to all inactive members saying that there was going to be a prune. And if they didn't want to be deleted then they need to login.

i NEVER delete members from database, i know traffic is more important than members however i prefer members over guests because its like u got PROOF that ur site is good, where traffic can be slow on some days and busier at other times

pros:
save database space (but with Tb had disks this doesnt matter)
makes nicknames available for other users
may reduce leechers

cons:
reduces member count - less member uptake
may annoy leechers - lose members

i guess if your site has like 50k members or more (maybe even 20-30k or more) its not a good idea to prune members with 0 posts... could kill your forum? cause im sure you will delete almost half your members if not more. Its better if your going to prune, prune from the start..

Never once pruned inactive users, meh dont see the point, it increases chances of more people registering and they might come back some day...

I wouldn't prune users with 0 posts. As most of them register so they can just get downloads. Not every1 contributes and there isn't any rule in my forum that says everybody has to contribute ;)
