Just logged into my CloudFlare account and saw the message:

Cloudflare has enabled SSL encryption for our Free plan users. We will be enabling this feature for all free websites over the next 48 hours. To learn more click here.

If you want to read about it you can see it on their webpage here: https://www.cloudflare.com/ssl#universal_ssl

Sounds pretty sweet, SSL certificate that won't cost a dime and will likely be globally accepted (unlike most self signed certificates).

Any security-minded webmasters might want to test this out for various reasons such as improved abilities to blocking out bot nets used by the illegitimate DMCA trolls (I won't even name them, we all know who they are).

I'd be curious what any other webmasters on here thinks about CloudFlare's new free SSL offering...

well... for free ssl certs try startssl

as for cloudflare: they need more customers, but there won't be that many.
there are still sites, that use them - eg even wjunction
but i have had more problems with them, as they benefit me. so i deactivated all services.
ssl is a good options (and now even available for the free members) but it's not worth the hassel, that the network (for the free people) is often very ... unstable.

though, if you use CF and have good experience, just activate it and see what won't work.
since you can't really mix ssl with non-ssl features this could become a problem, e.g. if your ads aren't supporting ssl, you will experience a loss of income, since most browser will block the insecure elements on a ssl-encrypted site :)
