The banner 2 does not look original and the skull sucks a does not go with the name and does not match the theme which you want to use. All these idiots have not seen the theme u want to use and are posting stupid comments so guess they are just blind or too stupid to notice that...

Yes the background of the banner is black. The layer is see-through but it will be showing the actual forum background instead of the black.

1st - just looks unbelievably bad = fail
2nd - the wallpaper used in the background cuts off on the left side = mega fail

I wouldn't use either but if I had to choose - the 2nd one is better.

Neither are very good really,first one is better tehn tht skull thing tho... but the font on the first one is aweful,should never use bevel/emboss on a font,looks terrible,then to add a gradient to it as well after just asking for it to fail.... use the first one,but change teh font and slogan
