hey site owners,
i`m writing this article so as to inform you all about the negative effects of allowing the use of Multiposters on your site.all this are my own and written and compiled by me.
=>In simple terms, a multiposter is a software used by people to spread the same post to many forums(this is the case of a forum Multiposter).
=>In the warez 'scene' this is used by 'uploaders' (leechers) who through various sources like torrent sites, usenet and DDL sites get a file, upload it to paying filehost(some to non paying filehost aswell), post it at a forum.They do it to get $$$ through downloads or sales. But if they post at only one forum, their earnings will be really less. So they post the same content to many forums. But this task is tedious. IT TAKES TIME.
=>SOLUTION? Respected developers like Freddy and JayFella create software that makes the uploaders job easier. An application that needs you to type the post only once and click! its posted to all your favourite and 'rich' forums in seconds. Job done
=>RESULT? more post = more impressions = more money = win
the developer makes money, the uploader makes money
WIN - WIN Situation
So whats the problem now and why SHOULD i ban the use of Multiposter?
=>Alright, win for the developer , win for the uploader, but its YOU, the webmaster who looses out. WHY? Read on.....
=>The uploaders who use the same post(basically referring to BBCode as most forums have disabled the use of html etc.), and post it to many forums.usually to make it worth while, they post to 100+forums who usually have vB, PHPBB variants and IPB and MYBB backends. All of these convert the BBCode to HTML with almost 99% similiar converting standards.
=>The page which is presented to search engines is identical across ALL the sites in which the uploader has posted.
=>Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. have algorithms in place to prevent webmasters from leeching content from other sites. in web parlace,its called as "DUPLICATE CONTENT". Google and other search engine hate duplicate content . The will punish YOU.
=> This essentially means that if i used a multiposter to post across 100 sites a thread called 'Stargate Atlantis S04E05 720p BluRay',
the same thread will be created across 100+ forums with absolutely the same content. As the threads are created at the same time(+/- few mins)search engine will go to those sites which are already well established and index those sites first. then after some time, it will come over to your site and see that you have duplicated content(it does not know that its your uploader and not you,the webmaster who duplicated contet- try explaining it google
) so first few times it ignores the fact that you duplicated content and indexes your site.then when it finds out that you are serial offender, it starts throwing your site further down the results page.this means less traffic for your site
=> Now to show you what this means in terms of real life figures
Approximately 100 posters post at my friends site, and almost all use multiposters, and they post to 200+ forums and DLE sites. most of them on a average post about 10-20 threads a day.
so it means that google etc. find 200 threads 'match' on each forum. like these 200 there are 1000`s of similiar duplicate content..
BANG! google devalues your site content. you get no traffic.
mind you,even if the content is changed, the links usually remain same and google thinks the content is same.
