Backup leaving cpu at maximum

Hello to all.
I've always used the plugin BackWPup to do my weekly automatic backuo to dropbox but recently I've been having problems with it because it puts my cpu at max causing problems for other users who are on my VPS node.
I've been warned twice by my service provider and so I decided to disable the plugin until you find another solution.
Someone can help me because I can not keep myself without backups.

This problem occurs when you have a large mysql database.
Try to backup your VPS via the control panel, it may solve the problem.

@OP, looks like you have a big database with too many rows. try to optimize the my.cnf values or move to a small dedicated or SSD VPS.

@Rox, comcure won't help as they also use mysqldump on their script.
