I just wanted to know, how do I know that people bidding in auctions at WJ are actual interested buyers but not just raising the price? In a real auction, you can tell by if they are buying anything or not but how do I do that here?

Any sort of suggestion would be awesome. Thanks

Thats the thing. How do you find if they are fake? Like there is a site here for sale and it has gone from $40 to $90, but how do you know none of them didnt bid just coz and the price is now double for any real buyers.

I am just wondering.

0ccul7, this is how bidding goes, people raise the price to the point they think it's too much, I happen to be in the auction your talking about, I don't think I'll keep bidding as it crossed my goal of how much I wish to pay.
You know the bidding game goes into 2 ways, if a fake user (I.E. OP user) raise the bid and the real bidder withdraw it means the OP didn't win anything.

imho best way to bid is set a goal and never cross it, if it goes over what you wish to pay then just drop it.

I am actually not specifically talking about that site. I am talking in general. Just thought how can it be done over the forum where you cannot see the person. I am just not used to online auctions, but thanks for explaining it. :)

I'm thinking about the same matter as well, I think forum auctions are a great thing especially on WJunction, but they need to be done with a mark on security and honesty, if you have suggestions I'd be happy to hear them.

Some sort of deposit system?

WJ could have PayPal/Payoneer/Skrill whatever accounts and us members could (as a verification) deposit a small amount of say 5 cents. This would then grant access to a new usergroup "verified paypal" (vBulletin can do that) that displays a small image or whatever under the "Member" image.

That way other members could be assured that it is a valid account holder and could even mark their auctions as "verified only". I sure would use that feature. You never know who is on the other side and if you ever going to get money. This doesnt eliminate the risk, but we will at least have something to "witch-hunt" (:P) the guy in case he/she turned out to be a scammer.
