2 of our Admins just recently quit and I'm looking for a new admin to help around the forums. I'm looking for a great people person with maybe some rep. They also need to be pretty good at graphics as the forums need a new banner and I'm not that good at that type of art.

You'll start out as a moderator till I can trust you. The job may eventually lead to being paid if the community gets that big.

I'll tell you much the same thing I told the other poster looking to hire an admin.

There is no substitute for longevity to accurately gauge someone’s interest in the forum. Ideally, a member should be an active participant in the community for at least six months before becoming a mod. Longtime members have proven their interest in the website and will start from Day One with a keen understanding of the site’s culture, the other members, and any e-drama surrounding the forum. If a mod needs to first be “brought up to speed” with the way things are done, he will be highly ineffective and may even make decisions that are inconsistent with how you want things done. I don't think I would ever "hire" an admin who actually sought the job, most who want it have no idea what it entails. I have on numerous occasions given members of my forums opportunities to become mod's when they asked for the job and 9 times out of 10 it went horrible wrong.

Members that take the forum too seriously will also tend to take their role as a mod too seriously. You have probably encountered overly-serious mods at one time or another and you know what a buzz kill they can be. Serious mods tend to go "Gestapo" (see below) and strictly enforce rules and ban any poster who “threatens harmony on the site” (which to them, often means disagreeing with them). Serious mods kill a site faster than even trolls and spammers can and will drive away members in droves. Ideal mods do just enough to keep the forum running smoothly without taking the site (or themselves) too seriously. This is one reason I never tap a member as a mod who has asked to be a mod. Likewise, I would be twice as careful about "hiring" an admin I didn't have any experience dealing with and have first hand knowledge of how they run a site.

  • ALIASES: Nazi, Dictator, Jailer, Old Iron Fist, Rules Parrot
  • ALLIES: Henchman, Cheerleader
  • ENEMIES: Free-thinking posters everywhere.
  • HABITAT: Most forums have at least one Gestapo, unfortunately.
  • MATING CALL: “That post is in violation of Rule 14.7-C (as amended)!”
  • REAL LIFE TRIVIA: Was fired last week from Pizza Hut for insubordination.

Talk about taking it to serious LOL! All he wants is a person to help him out a little, dont judge people man. Good luck in finding someone though chri5 :)

DJchaos by reading your long ass speech, i can categorize you as what you call over serious. Lol all he was looking for an admin nd that request of him is "over seriously taken by you". " Did you forget to read your own reflection Mr. Serious!"
Bro, you just need to chill a little. This warez is getting too much in ya mind lol. Being serious :)

Still mad about being fired from pizza hut I see, eh killer?

I have zero interest in his forum, not in modding, not in running, not even in joining. I'm offering what I can, advise I wish someone who knew from experience would have done for me when I started. You want to jump on the "I'm taking it too serious bandwagon", feel free killer.

The site I just left to build my present one had over 6000 downloads a day and had over 16,000 members till I partnered up with an over zealous admin who drove them away in droves and drove the site to ruin. It wasn't even a warez site, it was an anime site with thousands of series's, OVA's and movies.

Serous posts don't end with cartoons and jokes, it was friendly advise. He can take it to heart or choose to ignore it as he see's fit. I won't loose sleep either way, I guess it's true, no good deed goes unpunished.

Thanks for the advice DjChaos
But my site isn't going any lower than it already is. We dropped from 2500 pi to 400-800 a day which makes me a sad panda. D:
I need to advertise and market my site or something to get it more active.
