My Previous Discussions were "No" but why havent someone suggested this yet?....

wJunction has been running from so many years on vB3.... Its time it advances & changes to vB4. The Latest Version of vB4 I reckon. This change isnt 100% necessary, but its time we advance ourselves and hop onto the vB4 version.

Some of you might say - "Why to change when everything is going smooth?".

I Would Like To Quote Mr.Happy's Words - "In This Case, Think of improving the current scenario. The iPhone 1, playstation 1, Google in the year 1999, the Ford model T, etc. were all good and working but were improved. Everything can be improved and you should never be satisfied and always aim higher."

My Words on vB4 -> It has a better code in its latest version "4.1.8". Its sexy fast & it has so many more features that this vB3 version. Its very sleek & has a better editor. Vulnerabilities have been detected and sorted out continuously on every new release. Lastly, A Change on wJ would be brilliant with this one on.

I think it would be a great idea but "No" from my side.

Why bother for vb4 when we can still get the information and discuss everyday?

We need a common forum for webmasters dear. What if Wjunction was not running on vb and was running on a modified script of its own?

Yes if you say about the looks then I would say i am bored with the same skin of wjunction but the minor changes have taken over it like the changed icons and all.
 
How do you know whether WJunction.com is running vB3 or vB4.

I remember when vB4 was out with a stable release, then administrators at that time were discussing for an upgrade. (el_jentel1 talking in shoutbox)

They might have even updated it, but no one noticed as the theme was the same.

I know that the vBulletin 4 theme structure is totally different from vBulletin 3, but it is possible to code a look-a-like vB3 theme for vB4.

So unless the admins clear this thing, whether WJunction is on vB3 or vB4, I think there is no need to fuzz about.
 
BlaZe - lol... wJ is running vB3 & i can guarantee that. ;)

VB4 can be understood just by its look :) & so is vb3.

(I Have been doing vB works since I was into Forums).
 
i`d say NO to vb4. i have helped to managed many vb sites.the site usually takes a performance hit when you upgrade to vb4.its bloated crap.its basically developed on the advice of stock holders of vb,not developers.they needed $$$.they decided lets rebuild vb3 and release it into the market.vb3 is stable,easier to develop and manage(admin).plus an upgrade costs a lot.wjunction is not making that kind of money afaik.why fix something when its not broken?
 
dark_hunter -> vB4 has better features... u cant compare things in that manner dude. I have stated its good features on the main post. I like it.
 
sceneguy -> thats just a rumour man... vB4 is much stable than vb3, How Many excellent changes have been done. The admin panel is way better than vB3 one... Ask Me I am running 4.1.8... I Myself have worked for many vB stuff, vB4 code is better than vB3.

I have used it myself many times, it's ui looks crappy, and the so called better features you said are over kill on the so called design, I can install vB3 and get a better job done with mods installed, trust me mate I know these shits. And with updates all over the show it says something like they can't get it right.

I'm into making warez forums since 2007 and I started with vBulletin 3.6 which was in trends since January 2007.

Thats what a site with vBulletin 3.x.x running, looks like.

I think you're just a new guy and you might have not used vBulletin 3 that much and so you don't realize it's AWESOMENESS =)
 
dark - vB4 is like a crescent moon, It can grow to its full strength, still time is there. vb3 is like Full moon... u dont expect to find more changes and developments on it.

BlaZe - congo man... its a good thing. I never said anything against ur experience :)

I know that Breaking Bad... vbteam and FS is where I started.... I Have developed myself with knowledge & things I have done myself. I Agree vb3 is good but I Feel vb4 is better.:)

But I don't want more development on it, it's got what it needs, if it does need more there is likely a modification to do the job. Witch is why it runs better, less bloatware.

I understand, but your mind is confused, you might be only liking vB4 because it's a new toy.
 
I Like vb4 cause it has got some awesome new features... The CKEditor is fab, Can That be brought in for vb3? Apart from others, I like to try out new stuff... If they are good enuff i use them :)
 
eLight has said that we won't be moving to another script in the near future. This has being discussed many times already. WJ was converted to IPB twice. Once by elj back in late 2009 and once by eLight in early 2011 on test boards. If we were going to convert it would be to IPB not vb4 for obvious reasons.

vB4 is a disaster coding wise on large sites. The search system is poorly coded and the script is a resource hog and inefficient on large active sites. Most vb4 users aren't aware of this as they wouldn't have experience of it on large sites.
 
i don't see any valid reason to move to vb4, what does it matter to you if we are on vb3 or vb4 if all is smooth? ;)

What vb4 has that vb3.8.7 doesn't?
