Is there a way to transcode files after they have already been uploaded?
I uploaded many avi files as "original". But I now see they have to be mp4 so that I can stream them. Can I change that or do I have to reupload them so that they are transcoded with another setting?
 
There is no way to re-transcode already uploaded videos.
You will have to upload them again and chose a different setting for your uploads.

We just updated and improved our video player config for our responsive design.
In particular
- the cut-off subtitle problem mentioned by vedatyes is fixed
- different non 16:9 video resultions are displayed better to more fill out and fit the whole screen
 
Have the problem still with firefox and chrome
edit: Works only with internet explorer, but who use it now a days.

We have fixed another bug and tested it with all major browsers. We also cleared the CloudFlare cache. Please refresh the site completely or clear your cache and try again.
Does it work for you now?
 
OK we will consider it for our next update.
However,
- we set the logo to be hidden together with the player controls
- the logo only shows on the embedded player (not on our domain)

So the logo size should not be a major issue we think.

What do you mean by that?
1. The stream counter you see in the file list under uploads is different from the affiliate counter (for the affiliate counter only certain countries under a few other conditions count. The stream counter simply counts everything).
2. Furthermore the history and counters are in real time. However during high server load (lots of users and many videos to transcode) those updates can happen delayed and are stored in a temporary database until then.

Wrong. You can watch and download files as free user too. However there are limits. For more info see the first few posts in here.

Good thinking. Unfortunately things aren’t as straightforward as they seem.
  1. While our website can play Flash videos, they will not work on mobile devices. And even on desktop browsers Flash is becoming a legacy feature now.
  2. Our Streams are categorized by bitrate and resolution into: SD, HD and Smartphone. Many mp4 files on your disk might be HD, which is good from disk, but over the internet it can be too slow and is on our site also only available to premium users if the video is longer than 5 minutes. This is why the recommended setting is SD
  3. If you really wish to skip transcoding you can set the stream quality setting when uploading to “Original”

Or do you simply mean it should be played in original quality until transcoding of that file has finished?
 
When transcoding videos the aspect ratio is always kept and the width/height of the video never increased. The bitrate is always kept or reduced.
In detail the settings work as following:

SD: max height 480
HD: max height 1080
Smartphone: max height 360


That leaves "Original", which doesn't transcode the file at all. Also keep in mind that these settings obviously only apply to videos and are ignored if the uploaded file is not a video.

Added after 1 Day 23 Hours:

We just improved our servers and allow now for more free user download speed. Up to 230KB/s for free users depending on the server load and time.
