I'm going on longer vacation guys. I won't be able to answer on any new questions but will try to catch up when I get back (not soon). Take care and stay strong!

Smith out.

Before I ask the question, Heres something about me:

I am more interested in sports and hand to hand combat sports than body-building or looking good. Not that I am any good at any one of those.

Alright, my question is -
Can I still maintain a good stamina despite my smoking habit? I don't smoke much at all. I am pretty young-nearing my twenties - its been three years since I started. I have started and stopped playing sports in this period. After my recent break from physical activity, I find it harder to get back in form. I am slowly trying to get back in touch via light jogging everyday. Its really important for me to get back in shape for my Karate classes as I have been lagging.

I know the obvious answer is to stop smoking. But what if I didn't? What if I remained a light smoker, would I have any chance of becoming a physically fit depite me being practically a couch potato for the last three months?

sorry for the long post :P hope this isn't much trouble.

Sorry for late answer Infidel, I was away. :(

Cigarettes would cost me my money and health, while it wouldn't give me anything in return so not even going to bother, you should also think about it.

Sports with alcohol and cigarets are not good combination. There isn't any special answer, simple one is that you won't be able to preform at your best, in other words, you will never reach your full capacity if you're smoking or/and drinking.

However, you said you don't smoke that much/long and that's okay but it's a drug like everything else and even tho you might won't increase dosage (90% you will in a few years/months) it still has very bad impact on your lungs most importantly. And you should know better than anyone that health of lungs is very important for sports, because bad lung capacity = no stamina = bad performance.

To summarize everything, if it's very important for you to perform at your best (Karate) I would definitely suggest to leave cigarets and invest that money in vitamins, supplements, healthy food and so on. ;)

Not to mention there are ton other health risks such as cancer, various heart and blood vessels diseases, bad breath, stinky clothes, hair, skin and bunch other.

Trust me, it's not worth it. ;)

Welcome home Smith.

Can you post a before and after photo of yourself (for motivation's part) >_>

Ah, I don't like to post my private information/pictures on any forums, especially not on warez related ones. Better safe than sorry.

But... I'm going to PM you my picture for some motivation ;)

There is no need to spend whole day at the gym. I don't train more than 45-60 mins. If it takes you like 2 hours to finish leg workout for example you are either doing way too many exercises/sets or resting more than required (between sets/exercises).

What you should focus on is cardio instead weight lifting much more. Cardio with weight lifting would be best option but if you are really that busy then stick with simple cardio workouts.

30/60 mins in the morning on empty stomach would do it. Running, bicycle etc.

Smith what is your take on the Insanity program by shaun T?

I never bothered with those workouts to be honest. You must understand that NO ONE can invent some super cool workout to burn fat 5x faster and gain muscle 2x faster.

It's just waste of money, I would rather focus on googling some workouts or reading articles on bodybuilding.com.

Like those commercials where you put some vibrating belt, it "melt" fat while you eat potatoes chips and watch TV.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't say they are useless (those workout DVDs) but they just cover basic stuff which can be found for free on net.

Okay those 60 day transformation pictures are/could be real. Guys had higher bodyfat and with probably every day cardio (and some weight resistance training) they lowered BF, so I wouldn't call it fake.

Give it a try.

Welcome back

Which one is better?
Cardio or weight training?

Which one burns fat fastest?
Interval training - 20 min
Compound training - 30-60 min
Weight training - 60 min
Cardio - 60 min
Weight training/compound training with cardio at same time - 30 60 min

So much confusing got all of these by doing some research

Thanks

Thanks suhel.

Well it's best if you combine both weight resistance and cardio workout.

If I had to choose which one for burning fat only, obviously it would be cardio.

You could do some variations such as:

1. Cardio in the morning, weight resistance training in afternoon and right after another cardio workout (only if you really need to burn some fat asap).
2. Cardio in the morning and weight resistance training in afteroon.
3. Weight resistance in afteroon and right after cardio.

or just cardio in the morning if goal is to burn fat.

Duration? Stick with basic, so 30-60 mins.

There are some tables on internet like, how much calories will 30 min run burn, how much if you just walk for 30 min, swimming etc.

I forgot to mention but swimming is also very good way to burn fat.

i started gym and all these days and use some mass building proteins and all.

i would like some power so i was told to use creatine, please assist which is the best brand, please note i dont want to have tablets instead powder form would do, as when i work out, i take myself with a cold pint of milk and the protein..

Ok thanks a lot man.
so 30-40 min running at morning is enough i think.Of course I can do that .
:)
Thanks <3

:P best sport is sex and its most safe sport =) second all proteins, all add'ons and other muscle growing and energy drinks are poison for your body  you have to remember that all exercises have to be portion leveled otherwise you will only hurt yourself.
You wont feel it now, you will feel that after 20 years....
Do not start bodybuilding in first...
Firstly start from active life and healthy and regular eating. Active life i mean soft sport like running, exercises, swimming everything that involves full body activity. After 1 year of that you can start bodybuilding in portion levels. This type of start up saves you lots of future years.
Remember body is designed to slow formation not fast grow. We are not plants that can be injected with antibiotics to get better results, because if you grow fast you die fast.
Heart used to pump 5 liters of blood with one pressure and yes she can pump 6 liters of blood with same pressure after extra weight change in your body but for limited time....
So don't be a hero because it's only time matter...
That's why there are created those weight tables....
Due to my injury i can't be involved in bodybuilding and it's just my advice for everyone ;)
