WhoIs protection means nothing, if the police contact them they'll hand over your information. WhoIs is only good if you want to hide your info from other webmasters/people.

If you want to hide your info fill in false information when you create a domain.

for warez i recommend internetbs, free privacy+they're not in US but in bahamas, US police/something can take your site down include ur domain AFAIK if your registrar is in US, but if in internetbs you'll be fine I read in another forum the owner said that

Actually, any domain registrars such as NameCheap didn't host the domain by themselves, even if you buy your domain on the south pole hosted registrar, it will still be easily razed if the domain is .com/.net/.org.

Best domains for warez sites are ccTLD's.
