Hello all,

I bumped into these forums recently and I must say they look very interesting, and it has opened my eyes to all the possibilities that the internet has in making money.

However, as I'm new to all this, I was looking for some help/advice on what's the best way to get started, especially as a beginner.

What I currently have is webhosting, and about 4-5 domains.

Would this help me at all in achieving anything?

I have experience with vBulletin and currently learning all the basics, tips and tricks of IPB.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

In my opinion, i don't think you would really be getting the best advices that would greatly help you earning money through warez (Although some might be giving good ones). The best advice you can get is through experience.

Or don't get into warez. Sell geckos.

Dont get into warez.

Something easy is to create a blog about stuff you like, write about it, decent articles/content.

throw some ads on it, let it grow.

theres also a lot of scripts out there used for legit sites.

Arcade sites arent a bad start

Heres my advice:

1. Before you buy domains, think of the idea first. Then buy a domain that fits your site. Sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people buy useless domains hoping to get traffic - but the traffic wont be returning the next day or the day after that.

2. Don't expect to make money. Be prepared to spend more than you make. This is true for about 95% of us probably. We try hard, but theres not as much money as you think there is.

3. Once you've come up with your idea and set up your forum or w/e, read up on one segment and then come ask questions (after you've tried to figure it out on your own a bit). So start with SEO or ask for a site review, for example.

Ohh, I like the idea of an arcade site.

Are there any scripts around that I could possibly use and tweak? :)

As for blogs, I'm not that great a writer, I don't have much of an interest in anything in particular.

AV Arcade by AVSCRIPTS is a very good and cheap one.

I can't disagree more on this.
There's so much money, that you would probably faint :)

The one who rules the Google, is the one who's making the money.

It is simple as that.

Well, first you must decide, are you in for money, or for hobby.

That will separate all questions & answers that you can come up with.

if you are just trying to do it for the money then is going to take a WHILLLEEEEE

so if you are in it for the money and dont care about your websites then just become an uploader and you will make a few cents a day.... you wont make money overnight..might not even make anything in a year.

I am in it for both.

I love managing websites, communities and social groups.

I love the idea of being a part of a large community (hopefully friendly). It's a passion and I've been attempting to become a proper webmaster ever since I visited a couple of large forums and what not.

Do you know the basics of HTML (W3Schools.com) ? If you don't, get yourself AppServ or XAMPP and practice a lot on your PC (you won't need both, just one, AppServ is great if you like simplicity), then you could actually make a live site.

Also, treat domains with respect (I'm not trying to be funny) don't buy them just because you have some extra money, or because you want to sell them (domaining is business for some people, but not for an average Joe). Buy it after you get some idea, don't waste your time and money on projects that won't be completed because of lack of knowledge, time, or something else.

You have to know basics of HTML if you want to run a site, after that you can eventually play around with CSS and its features, maybe after that you can move to Javascript, after some time you'll eventually begin to play around with PHP because you need to remove or add some feature of the script you're using for your website.

Forums require a lot of knowledge, not just technical knowledge, you need to know how to get people on your forum. You won't get them by:
- Spamming
- Begging them to register
- Closing your site of and forcing them to register

You'll get members on your forum by being social, if you have a lot of friends in real life, you can ask them to help you with your forum. If you have a lot of Interwebz friends, you can tell them that you've opened a forum too. Most of the successful forums aren't successful because of their owner, they're successful because:
- Older forum got closed down
- Staff of the older forum argued a lot, and other Staff members decided to make their own forum.

There are cases when search engines helped, but it only happens when something goes viral, e.g. When you have something exclusive on your site, like an interview with some celebrity, photoshoot of some celebrity, or some funny video that would get people spread the link instantly.

Good luck...

Wow, thanks Jason!

Comprehensive post with a shed load of information.

I have some basic HTML and CSS knowledge, however I don't think I've ever really coded anything special from scratch.

As for forums, I am both a technical person, but I also spend time getting to know the community and what not. I'm quite a sociable person in person so that helps me with socialising with members.

The biggest forum I've run housed about 2000 active members, it was for a gaming private server; however it had to close down due to getting DMCA'd. Even then, with what I'd call as a decently sized forum, I wasn't sure how to use it to generate some revenue?

Adsense never seemed to work well for me...

well thats why I left 5% who do make money. If it was that easy to make alot of money you wouldn't see everyone being like, "where can i fine $10 hosting with sborg and free domain???" Only a few have the right combination of good domain, good idea, good content and is properly optimized. The rest just make enough to pay the bills, hopefully.

You know everyone on this forum always says dont go warez becuse they are scared of competition and that they will earn less, fuck that warez is to say truth fastest and easyest way to make money online, after you made some $$, invest the money you earned to legal sites.

The reason the experienced users say don't get into warez, is because they have experience long enough in this market to tell you that it usually isn't worth the time, effort and money involved to make it big.

Most people think it's an easy as said above, "where can i fine $10 hosting with sborg and free domain???". Only very experienced webmasters can maybe make that concept work for them in the beginning, since they already know the ins and outs of running a successful website.

I think that yes some people are genuinely scared of newer competition, however this market is already so saturated as it is, that even 100 new sites everyday won't be much competition to you as most new sites die off within the first 3months.

So my advice is to find a niche that you like or are interested in, improve your skills where it comes to coding and scripting, create something unique and only then will you be able to see real rewards.

If you still think that warez is a profitable market at this level (uploader/website/webhost/filehost), then it's still your choice and when you realize it isn't as easy as you initially thought, just remember we told you so.

yes go with rares instead yahoo rares site! and then spam yahoo games room, chats etc members will then pay for coins which in turn are used to buy rare ID's. actually a lot of money in it
