Rapidshare making a comeback!

As far as their site says it was originally only for Apirl (unlimited downloading) but from the looks of things they have made it a permanent feature (y)

JGM.

Apparently, it is permanent. I say that because I noticed these changes sitewide:

- Premium accounts no longer have a 'traffic log'. Now there's just a Rapids transaction log.
- They removed integers/figures for traffic from their API.

The above two are drastic changes. If they had them for just a month, they wouldn't do that. Which means the change is permanent.

That’s Still only approx. €5.99 a month, while hotfile is €6.23 without Unlimited everything including file size, which means for free users the wait between downloads will be less, because you will have 1 rar of 1gb instead of 11rars (10x100mb, 1xfew mb remainder), The problem is you cannot resume as free so if your internet is not so good, you could end up being disconnected and have to start the whole 1gb file again instead of a few mb file... SSL Encryption is also a great added bonus for downloaders...

For Premium and free users this a good thing, as long as Rapidshare's Definition of Unlimited is Truly Unlimited and not the hofile definition of Unlimited which is really limited.

The best thing that has come out of this?

Premium users, if they're uploaders, can trafficshare/hotlink their files. Rapidshare also offers unlimited trafficshare. Technically, as long as you're premium, you could offer EVERY free user out there direct, hotlinked downloads for free, forever (files uploaded to your account).

That's another very good point, i just hope that firstly Rapidshare's Definition of Unlimited is Truly Unlimited and not the hotfile definition of Unlimited which is really limited, and also that people actually start uploading to them again.

I kind of doubt that some of the uploaders here will actually use the traffic share feature, in fact to be honest i am slightly sceptical about it, as they won’t make money from it if the DDL sites force them to be included so will want downloaders to use the paid links instead, which clearly if they were traffic share links they wouldn’t.

Yep, that's one awesome feature, and if someone made a site with uploads using only that, it"ll go big in no time.

If someone makes a site with just hot-linked RS links I guarantee you the feature dies as soon as that forum gets at all big (and the forum dies with it).

You have to think it all the way through, users paying nothing towards RapidShare's server costs, RapidShare keeping servers up with all the traffic from free users downloading like crazy? No, they're not gonna bankrupt themselves so people can share their files.

lol. What do you know about rapidshare finances? They can take the blow. They do have marketing analysts, don't make them stupid. Unlimited space is what we always wanted back.

heh and I was getting worried about my rapids comparing to traffic left :)
Now I have 4 years unlimited traffic on Rapidshare LOL

I bet you are an uploader ;)

Nope, and I'm all against making profit with uploading.
I'm using torrents to get what I need and I seed what I leech.

I was just pointing out that going back to unlimited traffic isn't enough anymore because of those other filehosts ( which ALL suck [ Because they spend more money on advertising/affiliating then on upgrading their network ] ) that spoil the uploaders.

I'm an RS fan. I'm a premium member for over five years now.

...I sure as hell not gonna upload to some host which will profit off me and yet not even give me a premium account for free as a token of appreciation.
They can't due to legal matters. In return you get happy downloaders and that warm feeling you get when know you've made thousands of leechers happy.
Also, it's not because warez is "free". Rapidshare is free.
Rapidshare is a corporation and thus needs money to exists.
You can also upload using a free account 8-)

This was a few years ago, they had sucky limits to, like you could only download 25gb in a week or something to that effect.

dont you even want to read the main post?

why would you rate RS as "sucky" just because of a non-present issue?

---------------

this is a great news, im still VIP on RS for 2 more years and glad dont have to worry about the traffic limit anymore.

my only problem is uploading to RS is slow on US server.

I read the main post, and since I'm smart enough to know that Rapidshare is held up in such high regard because of history. I just don't see why they are when a few years ago (they were at their peak) they still had sucky limits and weren't that good.

EDIT: I actually got great upload speed on US server to rapidshare, I uploaded at school to rapidshare at more than 3 mbps through the web browser.

I doubt people would ever completely change to RS even after those changes. They need to start giving points for downloads.
