I'm sure it has been mentioned, but they can increase the download limit for free users in their account. I'm so against the option of 400mb and I'd like to hear about some bans going out. The user is going to dislike you in the end, not the website you linked to. Most don't know any better.
 
Yeah, this is not really a good rule, you can provide links greater than 1Gb OR 400Mb as long as links from mirrors are downloadable for free users, there should be restriction like, files must be downloadable by free user. I personally prefer single links over parts as long as they are downloadable. :)
 
Not only they are retarded but idiots don't have any support at all. Unless I create ticket with title: How can I buy premium account.

Anyway on topic, they added such feature on purpose obviously. So you set limit to 400MB, upload file bigger than 400MB (700MB movie for example) and now user can either buy premium and download or, not download at all.

Everyone who is not a cashwhore will simply upload 700MB file and set limit to 1GB, but nooezzz we need to get AS MUCH MONEY WE CAN!!
 
i've changed setting from 400mb to 1gb plus i upload movies to rs fs fso duckload which provide good speed to free users,everything is not about money guys well i'm just happy covering server cost.its kinda enough for me,you must think as a downloader too won't you be pissed if you wanted to download something and when you checked you got to be premium franckly i'll stop visiting that site just my 2 cents.
 
I'm happy with the response this thread has gotten till now. So far only 1 retard *cough* EL-Warez *cough* came here to post nonsense.

I agree with all your posts, the downloaders have to be able to download the content that they just clicked and shouldn't be forced into buying a premium account in any way.

I'm talking with the owners of other DDL sites to have such a rule enforced.

well yeah i agree with fdls and humour "Whoo"

since they put mirrors will be fine to download but if they don't have any mirror but they submit filesonic links there should be some rules regarding that
 
I dislike allowing it even if they have mirrors. The user may not like the mirrors or a lot of times I cannot even download from some hosts like Oron or Fileserve.

I for the life of me cannot see why something should be posted that free users cannot download.
(I do see why, but for money is a stupid reason)

Just had another thought about this. Basically when free users cannot download for free it would call under the no paysite files more or lees...
 
I'd rather use a torrent (and I fucking hate torrents)

Than pay for a filehost.

But at the end of the day paying 8$ or whatever the cost is a month for material what is more than likely going to be several hundreds of dollars people can't complain.

you want to start a new section called paysites for large files? I wouldn't. Sounds like a bad idea.
 
Nah lol that was not what I meant, I had a typo in the reply.

Basically what I was saying was that when a user is forced to sign up for downloading a file for e.g. filesonic this would fall under the "no paysites allowed" rule. ;)
 
Actually the part about adding a mirror is not enough e.g

There is a 1.4GB movie, i rar it into a single link and then upload it to FSC and MU. Now as this is a 1+GB file free users wont be able to download from MU as well, so the basic purpose of a mirror is lost. They have to either buy a filesonic premium account or a megaupload premium account, and if the filesonic link is first, chances are they will buy that account. So the uploader wins and the downloader looses

I think a rule should be there that makes it compulsory for uploaders to upload files which are downloadable by free users, this way they wont be able to exploit the downloaders.
 
i think that it's ok even if you split the file into more parts, but as long as free users can download it too.

but of course i like single links 3543545 times more! :>

Thats correct, but thats also because you 3543545% own a premium account ;)

The main point is, submissions always had to be downloadable by guests without any charge what so ever.
