I have an idea I want to run past affiliates on this site

Would you use a filehosting website where
You can insert your own advertising tags (from whatever ad network you sign up to such as google adsense or coinurl etc etc ) or your own banner onto download pages belonging to files you upload?

So

1. You upload a file and share it
2. Downloader comes along and downloads the file AND you advertising tag is shown on the filehoster download page

Hence you get paid by whichever pay per click or pay per impression advertiser you have signed up with direct to your advertiser account

Free downloads are limited in speed (lets say 50 or 100KB/s) so those who are impatient can buy premium from filehoster

so its a win win, filehoster potentially gets more paying users and uploaders get to show their own advertising tags or banners and get paid by advertising/affiliate networks directly without having to go thru' filehost

yes good
people can add affiliate links there as well as PPS,PPL
though I am not an uploader but it will be a good option for PPL affs

I'm sorry but that is a terrible idea.
From the user's point, sure, very good. But from a webmaster's perspective this is a shot in the knee. Most viruses nowadays come from malicious ads. Practically any code could be inside an ad.

And that is different to every single filehoster page linked from this site how? they all have those terrible fake download buttons serving malware left and right.

Anyways forget it about it, its a bad idea for another reason i wont mention on this site in order to not offend anyone that I have come to realize since creating this thread.

Sorry if I came on too harsh, didn't mean to offend or attack you.
Im not talking about fake download buttons, Im talking about code inside the .js or .flv. Ive had some bad experiences with some low profile banner providers where my visitors experienced weird popups, annoying sound and even automatic redirects or windows like "are you sure you want to leave this page?".

Allowing custom html/php code on userpages = bad idea. Profit sharing, yes, that could be possible.. But I doubt anybody would want to do that and lose that sweet sweet ad revenue. Premium conversions are on an all time low at this point with all those 1 month filehosts popping up like mushrooms. Only a few people buy Premium.

if I remember correctly there is already a file host run this idea last two years and it was FAIL. you may try search a thread in archive.

The problem is adding custom Javascript that could do other things besides adding ads
And the other thing is abusing the amount of ads and pop ups
It hard to get a balance

I understand and it is a very good point you have made.

But the uploaders codes would appear only that UPLOADERS file download pages only, hence there be a build in disincentive for the UPLOADER not to serve shit and malware on pages belonging to themselves, basically if they have shit on their pages no one will download from them, in the same manner that is stupid for uploaders to include malware in files they upload, they would make a bad name for themselves on various sharing site in short order.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]This already happens on filehosts, every single one of the hosts here has the scummiest adverts imaginable with popups etc[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]see my post above, since the affiliates code will only appear on their own pages, there is a built in incentive for them not serve crap via javascript since they would make a bad name with their uploads, already uploaders can include malware in files they upload, but barely anyone does it since it leads to their rapid banning on various sharing forums[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]Anyways I am not going ahead with the idea, so its all theoretical now

[/FONT]I have found that many uploaders/affiliates are very narrow minded (and in some cases actually downright stupid) and set in their ways and are not willing to try anything new out that might actually make them money and save them from being scammed.

Which is why you SHOULD be using free Ad Block!
Code:
https://getadblock.com/
Then you won''t see those scummy ads on file hosts, youtube or anywhere else. Not using Ad Block, especially on pirate related sites of all kinds, is like running through a field of raspberry bushes stark naked. Makes....No.....Sense!

Well look at it from a filehosts point of view, no adverts no money to pay affiliates > higher premium prices

If you ever wonder why so many filehosts come and go just look at your reply.

The reason so many go under is because no one wants to use them due to all the ads and spam on them.

Sorry, but I don't give a damn about affiliates who spam their 'customers' with malware, spyware, redirects, chevereto script and all the other bullshit associated with so many of these scamming image hosts. Hell, I take a bit of pleasure in banning all the spammers who use these shady hosts on the forums I moderate on. Cheap thrill, I know. :cough:

Without Ad Block, I wouldn't use any of those hosts, so they still wouldn't get any money from me. I'm OK with hosts that use limited ads or even legit ads, but when dozens of stuff pops up to the point where you can barely see the picture, that's just beyond absurd. And there is no way in hell I would ever support anyone who uses such hosts.

And before anyone says there are no hosts without all of bullshit ads, here's a great host that has no ads, pop-ups, etc. Just a wonderfully clean host for those who care about such things.

Code:
http://ultraimg.com/

As far as the original question goes, it wouldn't be such a bad idea in some way, such as when someone copies your posts for use elsewhere. People would then see your site when they clicked on the image. That would be cool. The downside is, it would be considered advertising other sites, which is something most adults forums frown upon.

The legit way of doing it would be to use ads from porn sites, for example. Most of the big sites have their own affiliate programs where you get paid if someone clicks their link on your site and then buys an account. You might have a half a dozen ads from 18Eighteen, RealityKings, Eye Candy Avenue or even single model sites like Danielle Stark, for example, and I don't think people would mind that so much. Would these sites go for it after realizing that it might be there material uploaded to the host? That's hard to say.
