Very Nice Idea tested it out myself works,

Done some further optimization of the algorithm and I'm now hitting 6-9 MB/sec encoding speeds. This means that for example it can convert a 700 MB movie to images in 1 to 2 minutes. Also reduced the memory footprint 10-fold.

I think I'm gonna write the decoder today and make a basic app available for public testing.

Rofl at wallpaper. I guess you'll never loose the crack huh XD? To bad it'll be incompatible with the decoder as that was a test img.

You will need .NET 4 Beta 2 to run this:

It's just a simple console app that wraps the engine. Doesn't need to be much more for a test. If you try this out please report back the results (speed etc) you get when encoding/decoding along with your CPU type/brand. Small tip: when the app asks you for a file path you can just drag/drop a file onto the window instead of manually typing the whole thing. The files/images generated will always be placed in the same folder as the program.

That's what the test was for. If that was found to be stable I would of build a proper app (read: GUI) for the transcoder so no beta would of been needed. The console app was downloaded only once. So obviously with that kind of interest it would be stupid wasting hours developing the "real" thing.

Idea seems good, but i think that we fall into a lot of pieces that will make difficult download big files, but seems good to small files.
