Please Clarify The Correct Rules -Individual Mods Have Different Rules

No, not at all, unlike JamesVapor (what an appropriate name), you gave your honest opinion and didn't try to launch a personal attack like what he did in this and a previous thread by LB.

However, it is simply impossible to write down all the rules. There is nothing in the rules that members may not make anti Semitic remarks, but should we allow that the forum turns into a Anti Semitic forum?
 
I'm not trying to troll this thread or go off-topic, but the OP is 100% correct.

Every mod have different rules, it's like they are making their own 'rules' if they see something they don't like.

A lot of mods are also abusing powers, are trolling, spamming etc... Not really a great example for new members!
 
Another forum that I frequent has lots of moderators and runs into the same problem. They set up a Q&A thread for members to ask moderators questions regarding decorum and rules rather than try to write out a whole host of rules.

People who do such this clearly do not have any respect for themselves or for others and should not get away with such behaviour. This sort of thing could quite easily be included in the rules and would have to be left open to interpretation by any given staff member.

I do see your point in that some rules are hard to pinpoint but what I am saying is that the vast majority of them can and (imho) should be written down for all to see and follow.

And that's exactly the issue .... what is the 'vast majority' and where are the boundaries?

Again, if members do not know how to 'behave' themselves, moderators should step in and not only when written rules are broken.

And that's all I have to say about it!
 
For those not grasping it, this was purely for illustration of one of the irritating ways of members to catch attention.

Why would you report it ... it's not a written rule? Got my point now that it's not always necessary to have a rule in order to make sure the forum stays clean?
 
I know it's not a written rule and I approve of punishing members who do this.
Matter of fact...nevermind....this will just continue on and on.....

Please gentlemen, do not turn my thread into a "slanging match", against each other or any particular member of staff on here.

I am just astounded at just how many of you swear and abuse the staff on here and get away with it, especially against Sniffdog.

I started this thread to clarify the conflicting rules I had received pms about from different members of staff, which were in contrary to the Site's written rules. I am completely confused by them.

I repeat the main question that I had asked before in post 1...

Could whomever deleted my thread at least explain why, it was active and had been for weeks?

No offender has had the guts to respond, but the thread has completely disappeared from the db.

So be it, if that particular member of staff that did that on WJ without any reason, no matter what they do in the future, they will always remember that I had the courage to ask why.... and they didnt respond,,, a small thing, maybe, in the consequence of the rich pattern of life....

My response is;

Go and have a cold sausage sandwich ....and if you consider my replies on here as spam, like you accused me of....stick it up your axx,, and hopefully in the future you will "drop the soap" in somewhere like Folsom in the big grey building that is reserved for the real bad boys.

The axx bit is pretty strong language from a Lady like me,,,but meet me face to face, and you will be surprised just how dangerous I am....without any arms.

I am a tall red haired elegant (lady, both in name and nature), but you cross me or mine, and that includes any staff on any site, including WJ, then just watch out.

Unfortunately the net has become an outlet, for those that want to vent, because of the problems they have in their personal lives, and take it out on others.

The site rules or the rules set by individual staff?

And to add to it why are some members banned "willy nilly" after they have made thousands of helpful posts and been members for a long time?

It really is as simple as that.

If members can't behave then they should be banned on a permanent basis instead of this constant being banned and then unbanned nonsense. From what I have seen I know that if I act like a complete cock then I will get banned but so what since I also know I will be unbanned at some point.

A ban should stay as a ban.

Just a note -- About every community (either online or offline) will always thrive when the freedom is granted in a way that its members enjoy being their...

My few cents of suggestion -- Give the freedom to members and deal with folks who abuse that freedom . Like JGM said , make the bans permanent , as this will make sure that when someone abuses a rule that deserves a ban , will be noted by people and less rules will be broken...
 
Good points mintcold, and isnt it nice we call all constructively discuss the clarifications, of not only the Site Rules, but the general behaviour of members on here, with anyone becoming abusive to staff.......except for the first DUH that posted in reply to my first post. :sun:

How do you give freedom, and someone abuse it? Freedom is unconditional, else, it's not a freedom, it's illusion. So, why even using that word, that doesn't match the description?
 
Sorry I dont agree with some of the points of Freedom of Speech.

This is not across the board in life. Some go too far sometimes and use that expression to further their own ends.

Let us not forget that when posting on the net, that all ops must follow the written rules of any site, as JGM has said, when posting. IMO those rules overrule any `Freedom of Speech`excuses and must be respected.

I started this thread as a discussion outlet to clarify that sometimes I have received conflicting different rules on different things on different staff and wished to clarify which is correct.

For example when one of my threads was deleted, I was told it was because I am not allowed to use the different colour fonts supplied on this site, and I replied saying I read the rules and couldnt see that I had broken any site rules by doing that. The reply was that this is an unwritten rule but will be added. That was months ago and that rule has not been added to the site rules.

The other reason I was confused was by the different instructions from staff about copyright rules. I am an ex sub editor for a newspaper and know the rules on that. What concerns me greatly is that copyright laws are being broken on here every day on many threads, which also include live links.

This is so dangerous for any site, every site knows that live links are a no no and C & P any reports, which breach copyright laws, wo giving credit to their original source may cause any site deep legal problems

Links to the original source must always be coded for the site`s protection.

Ladybbird is very angry today...another injustice and another of my threads deleted today without just cause.... the last one was one I spent months on,,, since January, investigating and helping so many of WJ members on Filehosts

Why has my another of my threads been deleted today when I posted it 8 hrs before another member Posted His???

My thread posted earlier this afternoon Titled;

Finnish Court Rules Open WiFi Network Owner not Liable

yet 8 hours later Shareshiz posted something similar,, yet,, my thread was completely deleted and his not.

I respect ShareShiz & his reports, and I always check before I post any new News, to ensure that they have not already been posted,,but I really am fed up of threads being deleted without any good cause.

Even in the past ShareShiz was banned for no good reason....

I ask again,,why do staff on this site simply delete threads and ban members without good cause??? Maybe you do not realise... dear "Hard on the Mod Button Staff",,,
but this site is part of a group ownership of sites... it can be only be two staff that I think that are causing these probs & are causing damage to this site... I see that those Staff are not on staff on any other site within the same group...

I expect that this post of mine will be deleted and I may well be banned for my objections, but this is absolutely increditable that the group that owns this site is being damaged, by the bad Moderating of staff on this site, by their deleting so many threads/posts, and banning so many contributing members to this site.

I have C & P this post,,,just in case.....

While I have no power in this or the news section I did research it so you have a explanation.

Do you really think it was necessary to bump a month old thread to complain though?

Post bumping is a rule in the general site rules also, just an FYI.


I also dispute your facts as I am seeing you made your post 47 minutes before Shiz then you edited your post 8 hours after you made it.
