IDIOT!

ALL HDD has potential to crash.
I've had HDD of EVERY brand crash on me, that included WD.

The probability that one brand of HDD to crash is about the same regardless of brand.

It won't crash if you buy a WD
If you buy a shitty seagate or hitachi it definitely will die

Local storage in the safest way to store data, it's always acessible, and files arent deleted for no reason, but this is only reliable if you have a good local upload speed

ultramegabit, they lie. They claim to keep files forever, but unless you are premium affiliate (which in other words, you must share your files and make money for them), your files will expire after 30 days without download.

UMB is in it for the money, so I don't think the really want anyone to pay for their premium and store TBs of idle data on their system.

---------- Post added at 10:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:12 AM ----------

Even if YOU don't share "your" files. But if you have downloaded the files from elsewhere, there is always a risk that they may be blacklisted on the system.

The only way to safeguard against this is to rar the files so that they're unique to you. Put something in the rar comment so that the rars will be uniquely yours.

slingfile
can confirm stay clear of these, remote upload was workjing fine, for over a day, but now they have removed my account, i was premium aswell, no explanation no nohing, steer clear

Good luck with your paypal claim. Paypal usually don't issue refund for digital services and these bastards knows very well about this.

So, anyone have any experience with Uptobox?

I am contemplating using them.

thanks seeingmole, looks like ive been screwed then by Slingfile, my warning to other stay clear!

again were does it say on hotfiles page "unlimited storage"

Maybe you can try service like box.net, putdrive.com, google drive.. they provide storage for backup. Good luck.

slingfile very bad...3 TB files deleted

We have not deleted any one's files. I am assuming that it's you who's account got compromised and they deleted all files.

We have logs of IPs about who requests deletion of files to prove, so please do not blame us for deleting files from your account.

If you look in the FAQ of slingfile, it effectively says that if your files aren't shared and generate some kind of revenue for them, your premium account will be limited to only 500GB of space.

With just a paltry 500 GB, I guess SlingFile should be excluded from the list in the first post.

Could you please send me your username so that I can investigate?

stay away from slingfile, i purchased premium there 2 days ago and uploaded around 2TB and now new uploads are not showing anymore because of the rules that files need to be share or something

SeeingMole, that it not the case. We do not discriminate against users who share files and who don't. However, after the Rapidshare diaspora, it's clearly evident that we cannot allow users to upload 10-40TB of data. We are just not in a position to allow users to store such high volume of data at $9/month. We expect data storage to be "reasonable". If you're uploading and sharing copyrighted content, that is clearly a violation of our TOS. You wouldn't really require such high usage unless you were uploading and sharing copyrighted content. However, we're revising plans on our web site to reflect that.

We have NOT removed anybody's accounts. Please send me your username via PM, and I'll be happy to investigate. We have had just one Paypal claim come during the last one week, so I think I know who you are. Your account was simply never created, and you didn't bother to send us a support request, instead, filed a Paypal claim directly. It is unfair to blame us without even talking to us about the problem.

If a TON of users start downloading from Rapidshare using our RU feature, RS is clearly going to block our IPs.

So, at the moment, RS is blocking our server IPs. Please do not expect the RU feature to run smoothly as it is difficult for us to monitor each file hosting site individually since they change their codes and breaks compatibility with our crawlers.

@slingifle

my account was created and i succefully remote uploaded a number of files, i have sent you two support requests to which you never replied, im a premium member so im not sure why you said i never tried to contact you

the paypal claim was a last resort, your site would not let me send any help requests without actaully being logged in, and since i no longer could log in it was impossible.

the only way i could have contacted you was to set up another account

i also set up a free account to test and made mistake in username, so then set up another account, with my proper details to which i took out a premium, i could not log in to either accounts

so again, why would both accounts have issues, ill send u a pm

I apologize that your support requests weren't answered. We have had an avalanche of support requests in the last 1 week, so, we're catching up with all of them right now. For that very reason, our responses are slow, but, anyhow, we'll make sure we answer your request soon. If you can send me the support requests' links, I'll make sure I address them right away.

Ok, I will need to see the usernames that you're having problem with. I'll be happy to investigate them.

Thanks!

@slingfile thanks for the professional response,

appreciate it.

i have 2 - 2.5 tb on my rs account, some personal; backups, some workfiles which will be shared with a majority of 50 work collegues, theres no dmca videos music etc on there, its all work related and will never go over 2.5 tb in space

i was looking at moving the 2 tb over via remote upload, or basically get what i can, then if that didnt work, also move over maually via ftp by myself

its a shame because the site looked great.

ive sent you a pm anyway, and ill look into psting the request details

edit: also becasue on occasions il be sharing files with work colleagues i noticed a "live jasmin porn popup come up" when clicking on a test upload i did?

is this the case with the porn pop ups, as i said it may be not safe for work for some of my work collegues?

or is this a problem with maybe browser redicrection?

regards

Your never gonna find any file host that offers all this for free there are even some file host premium that do not even offer all this

2gb file size
1tb+ storage
File stored 6 months
800k+ download upload
Remote upload
Torrent download upload

Some of you are way to picky the reason why these file host are running away is were a paying file host they should have stayed underground and not bring unwanted attention to them and the users

All hard drives will crash. It's not a question on if it will crash, it's when it will. The brand has no effect on the life length of a hard drive.

again i didnt get an answer before, i cant see anywere on hotifles website about unlimited storage?

were does it say unlimited storage on hotfile?

Q.For how long are files stored?
A. In principle, we host data without a time limit. But files that have not been accessed for 90 days are deleted to relieve the system of forgotten and not needed content. This rule does not apply to Premium members.

I found only this info,it's from HF faq.

You Lie.
UMB Say:
File Lifetime:
Guest uploads will be deleted 5 days from the date of last download.
Free users uploads will be deleted from 30 days from last download.
Affiliate users uploads will be deleted from 30 days from last download.
Premium and Premium/Affiliate users files are never deleted.

Where is the lie?

My account was also suspended / deleted on slingfile, I tried to login few times earlier and it doesn't login

same here sent slingfile pm not heard back yet. and ima premium member, were u premium or free?

With info about:
- Storage:
- Max file size:
- File removal:
- Desktop program:
- Upload method: (RU, FTP)
- Payment method:

I appreciate your work!

@slingfile

thanks slingfile for reply.

At least u should adopt changes, however can you be more specific what is a reasonable amount of TB ???

is it 4 tb reasonable for a premium account holder

we are talking for files that never SHARED or never download by anyone except the account holder.

also, files can be used as hotlinking-remote (from slingfile) to other filehost (since slingfile provides 100gb/month)

is this situation allowed on slingfile.com or we randomly gonna see deleted backup files ???

please make it more clear what is reasonable amount of data as many others are running these days.

yes tried your service, like design (FM, remote folders) but there are customers who lost files (without shared) and paid to keep them as backup or remote-hotlinking only.

We want a 100% backup service with some hotlinking-remote and an AVERAGE amount of (non-shared files) 2.5 to 4.5 TB of data.

@spirata

STOP promoting-suggesting the hosts u USE for SHARING as BACKUP.

neither fileparadox or UMB is suitable for backup usage (which simply means NO SHARING, only remote-hotlink or DL by account holder) Also Fparadox does not allow any kind of adult content like filecloud.io

There are people reading the topic as guests (due to RS situation) so do not spam THIS TOPIC please with inappropriate choices. (if u do not know what exactly a backup filehost is)
