Xeon Hexa Core or Opteron Duodeca Core?

Dear Wjuction members,
I am currently thinking what CPUs to get for my new nodes... I am wondering which one to choose -
AMD Opteron 6234 Duodeca core - 12 cores, 12 threads 2.6 GHz
Or
Intel Xeon E5-2620 Hexa core - 6 cores, 12 threads 2.0 GHz turbo boost to 2.5 GHz

The AMD one is cheaper so I am wondering which one to choose... It is going to be a node for VPS so it should be able to run as much as possible VPS without overloading it of course.

CPU is not your only factor. IO will be a nightmare if you are expecting to cram many VPSs on a single node with SATA disks.

You could also try Intel Xeon E3 1245v2 , They have better CPU benchmarks.
As said above , Disk IO will become a bottleneck if you planing to load up many vps's on it.

Benchmark wise Dual E5-2620 >>> Dual AMD Opteron 6234
But if you are looking to create a big VPS node, make sure you create a SAN storage with SSD cache. Disk I/O will be biggest set back on Bigger VPS nodes.

The AMD is slower and will use more power. Not good in the long run.
