Write iPhone apps without a mac

No not really. At least it wasn't possible 9 months ago when I did a good bit of research on it.

The best way around it I found was coding them based on web code and then converting them. I used jqtouch to build a few things but http://www.sencha.com/ is the modern version of it. Haven't coded any sites with sencha but it does look great the code I played around with. The main coder of jqtouch joined with others to develop the sencha script.

Browser based apps are nearly better anyway depending on what your trying to achieve. It really does take ages to get apps approved and you've all these standards to learn and follow. If you have a browser based app you can update it instantly whenever you want and people don't have to download updates etc. As I said though it depends on what it's doing as you don't have access to stuff like the camera with browser based apps.
