if it did not have a hybrid E-Ink / Hi-Def display? I am currently a kindle E-Ink user and do not think that I would upgrade with out a hybrid.

I would.Hybrid e-ink support is not important. The important thing is black eink (classic book feeling) for me.
Currently I am using Kindle DX 9.7" keyboard version for engineering & books, I recommend it.

edit : What do you suggest to me as a e-notepad ? I have been waiting for two years for noteslate but It is viral, probably it will never release.

Hmm. I have played with the DX units but I found them to be to slow on the page turns. I agree with you that it is about the black ink. It is the fact that e-ink looks like print that I like about it. It is a lot easier on the eyes than a backlit screen. Guess we will see what comes.

As far as a tablet I could not tell you. I have not been ready to jump there yet. If I did my current front runner is the ASUS Transformer series. I really like that Hybrid approach.
