Wordpress - how to configure your posts?

Hello,

I am new to wordpress and I don't seem to figure this out.

How do I make my posts in such a way, so that when you are on the home page you see a preview (short version of the post) and when you click on a link (or the name of the post) it goes to the full post?

Is this inbuilt or I need to install a plugin?

I don't think you understood me.. I have a wordpress. I create a new post and publish it. When I go to my home page I see the whole post. I don't want to see the whole post, but just a summary, how do I do that from the wordpress admin panel?

Make new post and watch Right on Top this section

You have there Different settings like Draft,Private etc

Is this the option? I don't want to make the post private.

Here is an example from adultbay:

When you click on the post heading you will get the download links and screenshots - the whole post. How do I do this?
