Shell we increase page rank of Wjunction ?

My turn added to footer text link adspot.

Hope every one supports

No force on any Member,

Just feel free to check your status of website, definitely if you are a member in WJ even 1% of traffic will be from Wj.

When I finish up my new footer, I'll add the link.

P.S. Nice idea, not because pagerank is important. It's because of the idea... To make this place bigger and better, it's true that we need more fresh faces, more younger webmasters who will have the motivation to learn more about webmastering.

Hmm, i might also link wjunction in my gay porn site once i finished it :P So more gays would hang around here and I won't be alone. Cheers for the nice idea! (y)

Personally I don't think this is a great idea and here's why.

WJ is a webmaster forum. If you have Warez Sites or Porn sites which let's be honest are completely unrelated to webmaster sites then it can have a negative impact on your site as you have content linking from unrelated content. Now the impact is very small but it is an impact. The strongest links are from related content so ideally you'd have a link from eg the Google Webmaster Help Forum or other Webmaster Forums.
Alternatively other sites which are webmaster related like the IPB or vBulletin.org support sites. Maybe something like that web hosting talk or whatever that's called. They are related.

When webmasters on WJ link to other webmasters it's good as they are generally linking warez / download sites to other warez/ download sites which are similar. The exception to this are some image hosting sites like eg DLow's and I've warned him of this a few times as he links to a lot of warez sites which is affecting him.

The other thing that's wrong with this is having links on every page. This is a big no-no. I made a topic about this before how it's not good to link to the same site on every page. Google is clever and know if you link to something on every page it's a link exchange or a paid advertisement so can ignore it. You'll notice this sometimes as you could have a few thousand backlinks from a site you have a link exchange with in your Webmaster Area and then one day they are all removed. I've done lots of experimenting on this and it's more common than you think. It's just people never think of checking this stuff.

The best way of doing link is by them being natural. For example I'll take ddlrank.com which is owned by Whoo. Their are several topics on WJ on about the the top warez sites and people mention ddlrank and link to it. This is great as people mention keywords unknowingly like 'top', 'warez', 'best', 'traffic', 'alexa' etc. and then link to the site. That's far stronger than any link exchange as a link to DDLrank appears probably 50 times on WJ so it's not over spammed but is enough to be found by Google. If it was a footer link it would be in the thousands and Google would know well to ignore it.

If you are going to link to WJ and want to have it on every page and your own a warez site then add a rel="nofollow" as suggested by Google to avoid affecting WJunctions natural organic traffic.

So ya that's how link's should be.

well more backlink of other sites in our site is simply lesser the chance of our site getting PR.

I would care about my site PR rather than other's.

@Mr Happy
Purpose of this thread is to increase WJ's Pagerank, but I've added the link on my site from a different reason. Most of the sites are full of link exchanges, but there are sites with a decent number of footer links, which makes them better in some way, what are the chances that someone clicks a link on the site with 20+ links and on a site with around 5 links? Obviously, the one with 5 links will win.

e.g.

When someone scrolls down and sees "Webmaster Hangout", if he's a Webmaster, he'll most probably click it and register on the site.

I though I did a great job of explaining this earlier.

Fair enough Jason you may send a few click through's but remember that I didn't say anything about the number of links on the page. I said if it's on EVERY page and as your's is in the footer I think I can safely presume it will be on every page or at least most. Presuming you don't have a nofollow Google will after a period of time recognize this and ignore the link and start penalizing WJ's organic traffic and page rank along with your own site. Following Google's guidelines you should add a rel="nofollow" as I stated above and you can still provide the click through's like you mentioned without harming your own site or WJ.

@ Mr Happy : :p

Nope they will ignore it if they consider it spam or a paid link exchange, for the purpose of manipluation of Page Rank.

As Happy explained, just add rel="nofollow" to the links. It still can add value, becuase i believe Google is the only search engine which recognises it and the others disregard it, also it is good if a site has a mixture of nofollow and follow links, as it seems more organic.

why u people telling this, do you think 100 webmaster will ad ?
i don't think so, i am informing to add when adspots are free,
for 100 backlinks nothing happens
there are no 50k active users or webmaster IN WJ

few people will add if interested. to make WJ some more better.

I told you I study this type of stuff, well it's pretty advanced studying. I have cron scripts record this as well as loads of other data daily on loads of websites. I have lots of websites with the sole intention of gathering information on how Google works as the more I know about Google the more I can put it to use on sites that make money. I had a website with 2,540 backlinks from one link to a site in the sidebar and it was removed so forget your 100,000 or even your 50,000. If you don't know or haven't experienced the effects then don't say it won't happen.

Want to know what was even more astonishing? It doesn't matter if you divide it up or change it's position. Most sites link to the home page of another site. I had different pages linking to different pages on the other site to try and brake it up and stop Google noticing that they were link exchanges and therefore removing them. It didn't work. Google still worked out it was a link exchange even if the link was placed at different places in the page like above topic, under topic, after replies, in footer, header, sidebar.... didn't matter.

If you don't know or haven't experienced the effects then don't say Google won't notice.

for 10 to 100 back links nothing happens dude, i too have expericance dude.
do you think that all the people will keep or what?
only few people will keep as i know. why to prolong this.
this is just make WJ PR some what better.

It will only mean one thing:

noob visits warez site => noob goes to Wjunction => noob downloads wcddl => noob making DDL site => noob posts link to Wjunction

Repeat cycle

So how can we exactly deal with link exchanging? :'(
