Sorry my bad, I stereotyped you.
Most people who love XP instantly hate win7 without even trying it, then when they do try it, they do it on some crappy old rust bucket. Though there are people like you who actually bother testing it lol.
 
Win7 is way better than vista which need big resources to run, I have tried to install 7 in old pc run with 512m ram, it worked normally when increased the page file size and it was smooth.

Also it is good choice for gamers too, open DirectX (dxdiag.exe) and open video tab and see the total video memory and will see something you will like very much.
