I ditched Windows Live messenger a long time ago, have been using opensource (lightweight) alternatives like Pidgin ever since.
That is IF i'm on Windows (like 10 times a year)

The new tabs is about the only good thing. The new smiles kinda suck. I didn't even know there was a compact view, thanks a lot! Stupid thing looks so much better now.

I have been using this for a while now, and i have managed to get use to it but i have changed it to the compact view which is the same as the old MSN.

The social intergration with twitter and amazon is really nice also

They made a horrible attempt to trying to get into marketing in social networks.
It was way too fast for anything to adapt to it.
I think it's ok but I wish I could change my name to like DjLaT1N0 like I used to.

At first it looked neat with the new features, but as soon as I realized they COMPLETELY REMOVED the block function, I uninstalled it.

Appearing offline to someone does NOT mean they are blocked. They can still send you messages and if you want to appear offline to your regular people once in a while, you also want to appear online again to everyone. Now what would the common user do? Right, click "Appear online to everyone" again - literally everyone - even your once blocked people.

Also, having to use real names is a shitty feature too.

This software is a piece of junk to me now. I hope they don't force you to upgrade anytime soon.

If anyone needs help downgrading to the good version without losing their emoticons, let me know and I'll post a guide :P

I love the new messenger, specially the integration with the social networking however like when u send a picture LINK it shares it on the window, gets irritating and no nick changes. that's the worst thing.
