Uh the band I like most (Tool) is in a group called Progressive Rock but they started out as metal then they were switched to alternative and now are considered progressive. I like almost all rock from Neil Young - Mudvayne even Blues finds it's way in my list :P

Folk (psych folk, freak folk, classic folk, etc.)
Neo-Psychedelia/Experimental

those are the only two genres that are tolerable to listen to these days. Lyrics in country, hip hop, rap, rock, etc. are way too generic and lack sustenance in today's mainstream music. Trance/House/"hard style" i don't know too much about, but I could see most of those songs being fairly easily repeated or replicated by someone with no real talent in FL Studio, though i could be wrong.

But as a part-time DJ, i have to be familiar with almost every genre.. I work in clubs, playing mainly mainstream dance.
