Use IDM instead !

if you need jdownloader to use less ram , try disabling some of the addons like systray and firefox flashgot plugin..
i only use hjsplit,unrar and webinterface and it uses only 10% of ram(around 400mb ram)

i use utorrent + idm + firefox.

But mostly i use idm.

I use pyLoad on my servers, works with many hosters and has a nice webinterface, so no X is needed.

Runnning X on a vps just to be able to use JDownloader is a total waste of ressources.
